Former Town striker Dean Bowditch is training with League Two Notts County having been released by the Blues at the end of the season. Bowditch, 23, has previously been linked with Geraint Williams's Leyton Orient.

County boss Ian McParland says he initially targeted Bowditch during 2008/09 but without success: "We monitored Dean last season but for one reason or another we didn't manage to bring him here.

"He is looking to get himself settled and get his career up and running again and we're only too pleased to offer him the chance here.

"Dean has a lot of good attributes and perhaps in recent years he hasn't fulfilled his potential he had as a youngster.

"We'll have a good look at him and see where it takes us, but the ball is firmly in his court."

County were previously interested in signing Billy Clarke, who like Bowditch was released by Town, but the Irishman moved on to Championship side Blackpool last month.
