Swans Still Chasing Pablo as Rhodes Back With Blues
Swans Still Chasing Pablo as Rhodes Back With Blues

Swansea manager Paulo Sousa has insisted his club still have a change of signing Town striker Pablo Couñago. The Spanish frontman turned down a £500,000 move to the Liberty Stadium a week ago.

Sousa says he has other options but that there is still a chance Couñago will become a Swan: "I still want a striker and I hope he will arrive before [their first game of the season against] Leicester.

"Pablo is still one possibility but there are others we are looking at.

"There aren't too many targets but we do have a number of players in mind. Now we need to find the good deal for everyone."

Fellow Town frontman Jordan Rhodes was back with the Blues yesterday after holding talks with Huddersfield regarding his proposed move to West Yorkshire. We understand that Rhodes is happy at Town but that the offer made by the Terriers, which we understand to be worth £850,000, was at a level acceptable to the club.

Earlier this week, manager Roy Keane hinted that Rhodes, like any other player, has his value: "Everton wanted to keep Wayne Rooney, but if an offer comes in sometimes they are accepted.”

Meanwhile, Spanish reports have linked the Blues with Celta Vigo striker Joselu, claiming that Town have watched him in action for Spain at the UEFA U19 Championships.

Elsewhere, our story revealing that Tamás Priskin is a Town target has been picked up by one or two of the nationals with a £1 million valuation put on the Hungarian international's head.
