Sunderland Midfielder Linked With Town Loan
Sunderland Midfielder Linked With Town Loan
Tuesday, 4th Aug 2009 15:24

Town are reported to be taking Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback on a season-long loan. Over the weekend, boss Roy Keane revealed that the Blues were close to adding a midfield player to their squad.

Newcastle-born Colback, 19, joined the youth set-up at Sunderland at 11 and was given first team experience by Keane in pre-season last year during the Blues’ boss’s spell as manager at the Stadium of Light.

The central midfielder, 5ft 8in tall, is yet to make a competitive first team appearance for the Black Cats, but has won caps at U20 level with England.

This guy can't be Shumi's replacement surely, a experienced Macadonian international v a young lad yet to make a first team appearance. I imagine we have something else planned.....

A very highly rated England youth and U19 International. With something to prove. Give him a chance!!

Could be the new bam bam with that red hair! Captained the reserves for Sunderland, another central midfield though-is he really likely to get a game? More back up for the likes of Garvan, Norris & Trotter I feel.

Excellent, Keano obviously saw him at Sunderland and thinks he's got a lot of potential. Bring him in.

And please, do it quickly! All this speculation and delay with signings is doing my head in.

could be an interesting capture BUT we already have Garvin, Trotter, Walters, Quinn, Healy, Martin, Upson as well as others who can play in the middle of the park....

Darlington want Waghorn, so he wont be us at a guess but we dont need him anyway. Priskin, The Celta Vigo 19 year old and the sunderland youngster who could be a new Mark Noble

when noble came, similar age, similar situation, he was one of our best players. good move as far as i can see.

we could sign beckham with la galaxy paying his wages and some people would slag it off.

Give the lad a chance - at least he'll be motivated! Mind you, just seeing the initials RK on a track suit top would probably motivate most people!!

We dont need 2 concentrate on the midfield at this moment in time. We have got a decent starting midfield for coventry. WE NEED A STRIKER NOW.

Have a good season Lisbie.

I think that marks you as an intelectual lightweight. I bet you didn't even consider them before you replied.

It's a done deal, colback is a town player and is eligible to play at Coventry, he will be with us for 1 season, after that there is a choice to buy him, I think what keano is doing is clever

JoeSoap - I have to take issue with some of the points you raised in your original post, but overall I thought you presented a well-thought out and clear argument. Lol ...

Like others have said, I have no idea who this midfielder is, and do we even need him? But .... Keano is no wallyhead. He learned his trade under two of the finest managers of the last 30 years (Sir Bobby excepted, rest his soul) in Cloughie and Fergie, and played at the very highest level with Man Utd for many years. That gives him some pretty good expertise and a very good eye for talent I would say! So to all the negative posters who thought we shoudl have signed Ronaldo, Fabregas and Drogba, give the man a chance and lets see what his budding team has to offer this season.

COME ON YA BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZ!

Where does it say this is a done deal?.

joshm, thank goodness you put that sentence in capitals; otherwise Roy might have missed it. It's lucky you reminded him we need a striker - he would have felt silly if he forgot!

Not so sure bout this boy. I don't know his qualities. May be good... But the 20+ striker is what we missing. Now it is a MUST since Rhodes and Lisbie are out of the picture and it seems Pablo will be out too. I'd say we need 2 strikers but will be happy to land at least one decent scorer

Who are these players?!

sounds a good signing. I guess some fans are disappointed that after the reported £5m double deal fell through that we seem to be shopping at the lower end of the market. Is the £5m still there?
