Lee-Barrett: I'm No Also Arran
Lee-Barrett: I'm No Also Arran
Friday, 21st Aug 2009 19:59

New keeper Arran Lee-Barrett says he is determined to make the most of his second chance with the Blues. The Ipswich-born glovesman was with Town as a schoolboy alongside the likes of Darren Bent, Darren Ambrose and Ian Westlake, but was released at 15.

Lee-Barrett told the club site: "It was obviously very disappointing for me when the club released me, but it's great to be back now and hopefully I can show what I can do.

"It's a fantastic opportunity for me and I'm grateful to the manager for the chance. The challenge for me now is to try and impress him and win a longer contract."

The 25-year-old says it was a Canary connection which led to his return to Portman Road: "I suppose it's a case of being in the right place at the right time.

"I asked [goalkeeper-coach] Jim [Hollman] if I could train with Ipswich a few weeks back and the manager agreed. I've known Jim for a long time, we worked together when I was a youth team player at Norwich before I joined Cardiff.

"With Shane leaving this week, I got a call from the manager offering me a chance here and grabbed it. It's a great opportunity for me to join a top club. I can only benefit from training alongside Richard Wright but I want to push him for his place as much as I can."

Lee-Barrett will be on the bench at West Brom tomorrow and is likely to make his Town debut when the Blues face Peterborough at London Road in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.

Good luck to him, he sounds keen and not short on desire. Hope he is at least given a chance in the CC/reserves but I can't honesty see him challenging Wrighty for no. 1 spot, especially with Murphy coming in for the 2nd half of this season. But who knows?

Good luck to him. Hope it all goes well. Keane says he likes to have 3 senior keepers so I hope he proves he's worth.

I'm looking forward to us drawing Crystal Palace in the next round of the League Cup, sponsored by Barratt Homes and attended by Dame Kelly Holmes. Alan Lee's shot palmed away by Arran Lee-Barratt and hits the Barrett Homes advert before hitting Holmes, Kelly and rebounding to Lee.....

Isn't this exactly what Supple said for about 3 seasons running? It means nothing.
