No Murphy Deal
No Murphy Deal

Sunderland’s Daryl Murphy did not join the Blues in the final minutes of the transfer window, according to reports. The Irish frontman’s on-off, on-off move to Portman Road was said to be back on in the latter stages of the transfer window but the 26-year-old remains on Wearside.

Murphy could still join the Blues on loan when the emergency window opens in a week’s time.

Town's move for Sheffield Wednesday defender Richard Wood also appears to have come to nothing, although again the centre-half is still a possible temporary signing when the emergency loan window opens.

"Murphy could still join the Blues on loan when the emergency window opens in a week's time."

I'd like to think that if we dip into the loan market we'll get a better loanee than Murphy!

Just for the record, is this twice we have been in for him, or three times?

The initial "medical passed" incident and then today? The one in middle looked like a case of the tabloids hearing we were signing Murphy and presuming it was Daryl again, rather than the goalkeeper, Brian.

I don't think Murphy would have been a popular signing so probably best he stays where he is. A bit disappointed we didn't get a striker in, but there's always the loans I suppose. Leadbitter and Edwards will be solid for us.

Not fussed to be honest, seriously think that the forwards we have will start to produce now we have a couple of decent midfielders in leadbitter and Edwards, would like to have seen a decent centre half come in to help stop the sloppy goals we have been conceding. Martin on the left leadbitter and Norris (when he's fit)in the middle and Edwards on the right, priskin and Walters upfront, isn't too bad eh?

Yeah but who plays alongside Leadbitter 'til Norris is fit???...time Keane gave Garvan a decent run maybe?

Yea I think garvan should be given a decent run of games lightningboy, I would much rather play him than healy and trotter. Really don't rate healy, garvan has made a big difference when he's cone off the bench, think he's been treated a tad unfairly. I supose peters has also made a good start too, think gio would make a fine addition to the squad, even jus until January, oh look a flock of pugs just flew by!!!

If he does come he had better be bl**dy good and hit the ground running. Cos if he doesn't having turned us down twice, the boo boys will be after him.

We are better than that. A Sunderland "sometimes gets a game" snubs us. IMHO we should NOT EVER sign this player, irrespective of whatever talent he may or may not have. Reminiscent of Mr Nugent?.... although ability cannot be matched

Oh well, lets face it, we didn't really want him anyway. Not a popular target with most fans, now having said that I hope he doesn't come in during the loan window. I think that Pabs and Priskin need to be played together as they could well end up a very good front pairing.

I think the suggestion was that Murphy would play in midfield since his strike rate was so poor. We dont need him now we have the two other Sunderland players ( dummy run ? are we getting smarter in the transfer market? ). Need to tighten our defence now. Even a loan would be good (Shame about O' Dea), preferably someone with pace. We seem to have cornered the market in slow centre halves.

I say we loan in Gio and Wood!
Gio is still with Spurs and stupid Redknapp is fortunately stupid enough to don't want him, just like he didn't want Benty... Anyway, get Gio and Wood and that's that!
