Keane Will Look to Loan Market
Keane Will Look to Loan Market
Friday, 4th Sep 2009 11:42

Town boss Roy Keane has confirmed he will be looking to add to his squad through the emergency loan window when it opens on Tuesday. Earlier today, the Blues were linked with a renewed move for long-time target Daryl Murphy from Keane’s old club Sunderland.

The Town manager told the club site: "That's something we will look at. As much as you would prefer to have players who you know are going to be here for two or three years, the loan market has to be explored.

"The big clubs might be considering loaning out some of their young players and we have done well in that respect with Jack Colback coming here, so it's something we are aware of and we have to keep our options open."

Keane says he has no complaints at player trading continuing into the first month of the season: "I'm OK with the transfer window, some managers get upset with it, but it's part of the game now.

"You spend a lot of time on the phone and there is wheeling and dealing going on. It's a busy time with so many deals in the balance but once the deadline passes, you know where you stand."

Keane signed Sunderland duo Grant Leadbitter and Carlos Edwards on a permanent basis and Reading's Liam Rosenior on loan on the final day of the transfer window.

I guess the "Whens Gio coming" deal is going to start again... I just hope someone signs him so people see that he does not want to come back.

Despite 3 REALLY good signings this week, I think we are still short of a Centre Half and Premier Standard Striker in order to have a pop at promotion.

If we don't get another forward on loan would like to see Pablo and Walters up top, with Proskin as back up?

I was at Wednesday's press conference and Clegg said that loans were very much on the cards (see the link to the Murphy story above), so not sure where the BBC comments come from or whether someone misheard/misinterpreted something.

Definitely seems to be a communication problem here. The BBC has Clegg top story saying that we won't be going into the loan market and Roy's saying the complete opposite today! I'm getting the impression that the teams failure so far is as a much a management failure as a team failure. The players look like they don't know what they are doing and seemingly the same is true for the management. I'd suggest team building but apparantly everyone did that over the summer, I'd ask for my money back if I was Marcus!

We'll always be looking for the right loan signings should they become available.A standard answer to any microphone. It's not a big issue. Get over it. Back Keano. We're going to start winning.

so who are good CB or Stikers that we can actually get on loan?

Is Keane so out of favour at Arsenal that none of there reserves are a possibility?

AndiPeters - Why would Keane be in or out of favour at Arsenal? His first contacts are at Man Utd. and Sunderland, surely (and Cork City too, I guess)
