Town chief executive Simon Clegg met up with Craig Phillips, the secretary general of the Australian Olympic committee, at Portman Road earlier today to discuss Australia’s arrangements for the 2012 London Olympics.

The duo also discussed other matters relating to the Olympics with Phillips interested to get an insight into professional football: “I was delighted to catch up with my old friend and colleague Simon Clegg and to see the exciting dynamics of what happens beyond the pitch at one of the country’s leading football clubs.”

Last month, an Olympic delegation from Azerbaijan visited Ipswich as they looked at where to hold a pre-games training camp.
