Colchester United are understood to be the club which midfielder Owen Garvan opted against joining on loan a fortnight ago, while Huddersfield United are also believed to be interested in the Republic of Ireland U21 skipper. Garvan is currently out of Roy Keane’s plans at Portman Road.

Last week, Keane revealed that Garvan had decided against a temporary switch to an unnamed club: “Owen had an opportunity last week, but he didn’t want to go and get some games.”

The U’s are said to be continuing their pursuit of the Dubliner, who hasn’t played for Town since the defeat at West Brom at the end of August.

Huddersfield are also believed to have showed interest in the 21-year-old, who recently expressed his determination to get back in Roy Keane’s plans.

Meanwhile, stand-in skipper Jon Walters has backed Keane to be a success with the Blues: “Without a shadow of doubt we have a manager who can take us places.

“Our training is first class and no one at the club wants to be in the position we now find ourselves.

“It is no reflection on where we want to be and look forward to being in the not too distant future.”

However look on the bright side. the only way is up. (obviously considering we aint gunna get relegated.)

JoHnNnY added 16:47 - Oct 2 I have been a visitor to the training facility on one occasion, we won a tour through local radio auction at Xmas, JM was in charge at the time although nearing the end. Owen Garvan, i recall asking Garath McAuley in the reception when they were looking through the squad sheet for the following nights match who they were playing... Me and my mate were shocked at this!, surely he'd know that?, or did he just not remember/or care?? Perhaps Keano has picked up on this laid back carefree approach and thought that the attitude wasnt there??

BlueBoots added 17:09 - Oct 2 This situation reminds me of the Joe Royle quote which Shane Supple related in his recent interview, along the lines of "Some of them think they're stars, and they're not even players". Names weren't mentioned, but we've had far too many young players in recent years (Haynes & Bowditch leap to mind) who have failed to live up to their early promise. Garvan should have swallowed his pride and knuckled down to a month of hard graft and regular football at League One level - drawing a tasty wage to have the occasional stroll in the reserves is unlikely to impress Keano. And for those of you badmouthing Trotter, he was our only midfielder who could hold his head up coming off the pitch against Newcastle, and had another solid game against Sheffield United. In our current predicament, I'd much rather have a hard-working midfielder who gets some tackles in and keeps possession with simple passes, than someone who doesn't work hard and goes missing far too often...
