Keane Praise for Fans

Boss Roy Keane has praised supporters for showing patience with his team, despite the Blues having gone 13 games without a victory. The Town support applauded the side off on Tuesday after Nathan Ellington’s 93rd minute goal prevented that first win of the season coming against Watford.

Keane says he doubts if they would have received a similar reaction anywhere else: “At any other club on this planet it probably wouldn’t happen. I feel very lucky I have to say.

“After 13 games without a victory, it’s strange that the players are getting applauded off the pitch but that’s a credit to the supporters, they appreciate the players’ efforts.

“I think from the other night they appreciated how well the players are playing. The signs have been a bit better the last few weeks but, of course, we need victories.

The Town manager is confident that that win will come soon: “We need to stay focused and get that victory and hopefully that will come at Plymouth.

“We all appreciate the support we’re getting from the fans, they’ve shown a good side to them, particularly the other night, but I think supporters just want to see their players giving 100% and they can see that here.”

Keane says there is no problem with the spirit inside the camp: “The players are sticking together. It was another kick in the teeth the other night but you just get on with it, clear our heads and get ready for another challenge.

“I’m not enjoying where we are and I don’t think anyone at the club has ever been on a run like this, players at their previous clubs included.

“As much as we’re disappointed, we’ve no one to blame but ourselves. If someone gives me the chances we created against Swansea and against Watford and we don’t take them against Plymouth, then we’ll suffer for it.”

This just proves that ITFC still have some of the best fans in England. We use to be this no question but after the ending of Jim's reign and some of the comments/arguments on TWTD in recent months, I had begun to worry that or fans were no better than any others but the support were giving the team at home gives me hope that were still some of the most loyal fans in the country.
COYB! Let's win today at Plymouth!

Come on Keano. I will be their today, we have to win or my Monday at work will be even worse than it has been recently.
3-1 to Town, and a view of Mariner at half time would be a great day.

Taking my little girl to her first match today, we live in Plymouth so getting to PR is hard, I have a good feeling about today, think we will win 3-1. Be nice to see Mariner too, I am sure he will get a good reception from the Town faithful.

We are the most patient fans in the country. If we were another club like Newcastle he would have been sacked after 3 games.
But let's back Roy all the way....
Roy Keanes barmy army....

If we lose today I'll slit my wrists. Perhaps not; thats a bit extreme, but that is how I felt on Wednesday.

I'm not the slightest bit worried - RK has brought in players that are improvement on those we let go over the summer and the players are now starting to click as a team. Plus, we have 2 "new signings" to come in the next few months with Norris and Civelli back from injury.

Other than the Newcastle game (a bad day at the office that I don't think Keane or the players will let happen again), the only game we've lost in the last 7 was Barnsley's last minute robbery. Just a case of taking our chances a bit better and our draws will become wins. (And we are creating lots of chances at the moment - I can see us having a game soon where the players do have their shooting boots on, and we give someone a right spanking.)

Finally, I actually think our current plight will prove useful in the long run - give some of our players the experience of scrapping for points at the bottom of the table for when we're in the Premier League the season after next!

BlueBoots - spot on.
I'm not for turning. Keano is doing everything in his power. Our best players at the mo are those he's bought in. He's a smart sport psychologist and even if we lost today (i'd cramp like i'd been smacked in the stomach): i'd man up and suck it up. Look at the bigger picture. This whole situation stinks of a wonderful fairy tale.

Keano cannot really say anything else, he can't blame the supporters for our predicament.

Lads, I've enjoyed TWTD for years but have never felt compelled to comment until now. We are experiencing some very testing times at the mo but its moments like this that separate the men from the boys. I have absolutely no doubt that we will come through this and when we do we will be a force to be reckoned with. The players will be able to handle anything after this! PutYaBootsOnKenao, you summed it up perfectly, lets all stand tall and back the boys no matter what! The pain at the mo will just make the success to come all the sweeter when it finally arrives!

The desire and the effort was clearly there for all to see the other night. This was often missing under JM where the side had often become too pedestrian.

Clearly this is what the fans appreciate and why many of us will continue to support the blues when the players demonstrate that they all want to play for the shirt. Thats all I ask for as a supporter, if we don't make priemership in a couple of seasons or so then so be it.

However, I am confident we will avoid the same fate as the budgies if Roy Keane can continue to motivate the team to put in this level of performance on a regular basis and I will continue to have faith.

I feel the results will come and I hope they will keep faith in Roy . Anybody who really knows about football knows that in a game many things happen sometimes you get the luck sometimes you dont ,we have had our fair share of bad luck perhaps it will turn soon . Even the likes of Alex Freguson has made bad signings. But I feel we still need a striker who will take his chances and I have no doubt Roy is busy looking for one , there is one there waiting for a game who will spark the team . Also I feel we need a journey man type centre half who has been round the block a bit to shore the back line up . The rest is in place I feel Leadbetter has been brilliant . I do wonder about Garvin I must admit ? Does he deserve a run in the side ie prove a point . But please the board dont loose faith in Roy or Roy please dont loose the faith in us because I belive it will happen soon .

For all the agony at the moment I'd rather be in our position than Portsmouth's. Portmouth: Lost 80% of their games, won 10% Drawn 10%. Us: Lost 43%, Won 0%, Drawn 57%. There is always a worse position to be in. It'll take just one win to begin the turn around but psychologically that hill is the steepest. Sticking my neck out I'll be surprised if we are still in the bottom three by Christmas, assuming no catastrophic injuries and no loans out - and hopefully it stays that way for this season.
