Pablo Couñago and Andy Marshall were today getting acquainted with their new team-mates as Town went back into training at Bent Lane.

George Burley said he felt sorry for the Spaniard's old club who were very upset that he left: "It’s not nice to lose a player like they did, but that’s professional football these days. I have sympathy with Celta Vigo and their fans. The situation in which Pablo left is similar to that which saw Sol Campbell leave Tottenham to eventually join Arsenal. We are just delighted to have signed a young player who, although not a regular for his side last season, is a proven goalscorer at all levels he has played at including Under-21 international level. Pablo is a very promising and exciting player who has an excellent strike rate. I hope he can fulfil his undoubted potential with us here. It will obviously take him time to adjust and whether he starts the season in the first team remains to be seen. We are certainly well pleased to have recruited him and I look forward to working with him."

Pablo speaks little English at the moment, but tuition has already been arranged.

Matt Holland and Hermann Hreidarsson missed out today as they have been granted a longer summer break. Both were involved with their national sides at the beginning of the summer.
