Richard Wright has signed a five-year deal at Arsenal for a fee which the clubs aren't disclosing. Reports claim £5-£6 million may be the figure.

Wright was paraded at Arsenal's training ground at 5.30 this evening and paid tribute to his time at Town: "I had a great time there. I owe George Burley a lot. George Burley showed a lot of faith in a young keeper and I learnt my trade there. I have to thank Malcolm Webster as well. I left on good terms, I spoke to George and he wished me luck."

Wright also had words of praise for his successor: "Andy Marshall is a good buy who they know very well."

He added that he thought Town would do OK without him: "I think they'll do very well."

Of David Seaman Wright said "I can learn from David Seaman and all he's done in football. My ambition is to play first team football. Everyone wants to play in the first team."

He also said he was looking forward to working with Bob Wilson, Arsenal's goalkeeping coach.

Arsene Wenger said: "He's a young talent and he's somebody who can challenge David Seaman straight

away. We know that ideally we'll go down to two keepers. David Seaman is staying. Alex Manninger needs to play and if he gets the right opportunity we'll let him go."
