Kilbane Turned Down Town?
Kilbane Turned Down Town?
Thursday, 28th Jan 2010 08:55

Hull City’s Kevin Kilbane opted against a proposed loan move to the Blues in order to help the Tigers avoid relegation, according to reports this morning. Elsewhere, Honduran defender Osman Chávez, linked with Town in the Central American press yesterday, is now said to be joining Newcastle United.

Last week Hull were reported to have turned down Town’s request to take Kilbane on loan for the rest of the season with Blues boss Roy Keane subsequently refusing to comment on the link: “I think it’s so wrong for managers to talk about players at other clubs. We’ve put in enquiries to a number of clubs about different players and we’re getting different feedback and that will continue over the next couple of days.”

Last week’s reports claimed left-back or left midfielder Kilbane was also interesting Celtic and Bolton.

Elsewhere, Honduran newspapers are reporting that Chávez is on his way to England and should be confirmed as a Newcastle United player by the weekend. The defender, who has had trials at a number of UK clubs, was linked with the Blues yesterday.

Hull City's Kevin Kilbane opted against a proposed loan move to the Blues in order to help the Tigers avoid relegation...

for that read, Hull City's Kevin Kilbane opted against a proposed loan move to the Blues in order to warm Hull's bench and collect his premiership wages.

Not a big miss in my view.

seems as if we can't match other clubs on money ,thats why we keep missing out on the better players, cmon marcus i thought you were a billionaire yet here we are scraping for loan signings and cheapies like Healey

Lets face facts guys, Town have shown 'some' improvement this season but at three places above the drop zone, we're not exactly an attractive proposition to many players unless they're moving 'up' the divisions. As for players coming in from abroad, who wants to join a team near the relegation zone to the third tier of English football? I know you'll all moan at me and call me negative, but the truth hurts me as much as it does you. I honestly think we'll finish mid table so in the summer hopefully we will become a more attractive lure to better players with some youth players 'pushing on'. Only time will tell.

Prooving again that the thinking that Keane would attract players is wrong.

It's not just down to Keane not attracting players, as Sir Bobby once said even in Towns heyday we struggled to attract players because of the location of the club. Yes, being near the foot of the Championship hardly helps either.
