Town are one of a number of clubs to be keeping an eye on a promising crop of young players with Scottish League Division Three leaders Livingston. The Blues, Rangers, Manchester City, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Preston North End, Bolton, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibs and Bristol Rovers all sent representatives to Almondvale to watch Livi’s 1-0 Scottish Cup defeat to Dundee on Wednesday.

The youngsters concerned include winger Andy Halliday, who has spent time on trial at Charlton, South African brothers Keaghan and Kyle Jacobs, both midfielders, David Sinclair, also a midfielder, and defender Cammy MacDonald.

Livingston chief Executive Ged Nixon said: “We have received an unprecedented number of requests for tickets from clubs in recent weeks.

“Clubs from the English Premiership, the Championship, League One and also from the SPL as well.

“Although there have been a lot of visits, they haven’t been followed up with concrete offers.”

Also in the Livingston side at present is central defender Paul Watson, who was released by Town at the end of his academy scholarship last summer.

scottish division 3?! Instead of sendin our scouts to scotland costin transport and match tickets to watch same football standard as the conference south wouldn't it be more beneficial to send em to watch a Sunday league game at gippeswick park? Only up the road from PR and probably find as good a players and be financially better cos we know we won't find anyone decent cos the very few decent ones will go to rangers, man city, sunderland and I see the players named are midfielders and a defender...?? Do we NEED midfielders or defenders?
