John Returns to Palace
John Returns to Palace
Sunday, 31st Jan 2010 10:20

Crystal Palace have confirmed that Stern John has returned to Selhurst Park after his second month on loan with the Blues.

Earlier in the week, reports in south London indicated that Town had told the Eagles that the Trinidad and Tobago international wouldn’t be extending his stay at Portman Road, although Roy Keane insisted on Friday that no decision had been made on the 33-year-old.

John made seven starts and two sub appearances in two months with the Blues, netting once.

Bye. First Bruce, now John, at least Keane is sifting out some of the dross.

Blue_Balls..... Never a truer word spoken my friend. Bruce is a clown. John was okay and filled a hole when Stead was banned, Walters suspended, Priskin out of form whatever and may have freshened things up in the dressing room and in training. He was smiling and laughing with the crowd whilst warming up on the touchline yesterday and seems a character. But, I'd rather have a complete tw@t who can score goals and has pace and ability. Good luck to him though, he wasn't our worst loan signing...

This is hardly surprising. I can only assume that someone else is on the way in because we are hardly blessed in this department. Still I am not going to hold my breath.

slowerball. I think Beckford fits the complete tw@t criteria who can score goals dont you?

Lee Hughes would match that criteria as well!

I thought Keane said that he was going to give Stern John plenty of notice about whether his loan would be extended, to be fair to the player and Crystal Palace? It's the transfer deadline tomorrow!!

Good decision to send him back, but will anyone else be coming in?? That is the big question I will be checking this site every few hours to find out over the next couple of days.

John did absolutely nothing for me apart from one well taken goal. No pace too heavy and pretty static. He had intelligent movement and a few deft touches but not up to the plate I'm afraid. As a previous post please send Ambrose home - he was not fit the last time he was with us.

Ambrose would cost us about 1 million. Palace won't let him go cheaply as he is scoring goals for fun. Marcus evans needs to splash the cash now or we are in serious danger of going down never mind making the play offs. 3 away games in a row this month and we have only won once away this season. Worrying times.

Quality last comment there bluepeter!!
Stern hasn't exactly set the world alight here so i'm not too disappointed to see him return to Selhurst.
We are in desperately in need of a goalscoring striker at ITFC, Stern John was not that man, neither it would seem are any of the other strikers currently at the club, lets hope Keano can get one in the next 28 or so hours.

Agreed with much of the above useful to fill the gap that Stead left when he was out suspended and no, didn't set the place on fire but not our worst loan signing. Tony Dinning anyone remember him....lol

Really hope this means another striker is on their way! If not, i seems like a very strange move, especially with Walters injured.

Or is he? It was rumoured at the start of the week that John would be returning to Palace and Priskin would be going out on loan which would have left us with just Pablo and Stead (Wickham not quite ready yet really and Walters is a forward but def not a striker) so the assumption there was we must be getting someone else in. Now we're keeping Priskin so I'm not holding out too much hope that Chopra will be joining us tomorrow. I just hope I'm very wrong!

stern john was never gonna be the answer but he proved to be a valuable member of the team. not sad or suprised to see him go back to palace but then if he'd have stayed i wouldnt really have minded, he's decent enough, as an option from the bench. just hope this means someone new is coming in. fingers crossed for a bit of transer deadline day magic!
