Clegg Set to Speak at Conference
Friday, 19th Feb 2010 15:53

Town chief executive Simon Clegg will be a guest speaker at Europe’s largest sports business conference, ISPO SpoBiS, in Munich next week. The conference, held on Monday and Tuesday, will be attended by 1500 of sports most important decision-makers.

Clegg will be one of 160 speakers at the event and will talk about maximising corporate hospitality at football clubs and will run a debate on hospitality at major sporting events such as the Olympic Games. Previous speakers at the conference include FIFA president Sepp Blatter, Franz Beckenbauer and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

Clegg said: “I am pleased to have been asked to be among the speakers at what is one of the top global events for the sports business sector.

“It will be a chance to hear and discuss ideas and initiatives across a range of subjects in the sporting world.”

Clegg will speak on the conference’s opening day before returning in time for the Blues’ trip to Scunthorpe on Tuesday evening.

Well it is obviously quite something to be one of only 160 speakers.

So what about ITFC as a sports business right now then? Err well our CE has no previous football experience and was on holiday during the Summer transfer window when the Club spent heavily.

Success depends very much upon performance on the field and for the first time this season we look like going down if we don't turn things round pretty sharpish.

Our CE appointed a manager with little previous experience and apparently little in the way of man-management skills. Our CE talks about business models and income streams - gobbledegook.
