New Away Shirt Revealed
Friday, 26th Feb 2010 13:02

Town have released a photo of the new black away shirt to be used in the 2010/11 season. TWTD was first to reveal that the Blues would be back in black next season earlier today.

The new kit can be pre-ordered via the official ITFC online shop.

What do you think of the new kit? Leave us your comments below.

I prefer it to the red (we are just not a red team), but it's otherwise utterly uninspired. I would go back to the white shirt, black shorts of c. 1981, or the black-and-white stripes of late 90s (with the Greene King logo, even if they weren't sponsoring–it just looked right).

Like it. Better than the red.

Hope we not looking for a fergy excuse "players can't see grey shirts" or something along them lines.

Someone made a point on another site that we should have a fluorescent colour. Hmmm.. maybe yes. Think they went for black because will sell better.

Its not too bad, but is it sufficiently different from blue to not cause a 'clash' of shirts when we play Pompey next season?

My personal preference is white and black, so a negative image of this shirt would have been ideal.

It could be a lot better.
I'm with arc...white shirt, black shorts.

They missed a trick with this shirt.

Looks like a rugby shirt, even more so given that a line out appears to be taking place. I wouldn't fancy Garvan's chances if we switched sports next season ...

arc... Don't you mean, cream and black stripes? 96/97 season. Nice shirt, probably one of my favourites.

My favourite away shirt was the plain white 'Fisons' one with the red and blue flash on the sleeve.
This black one may be fun under floodlights down the touchline against a dark crowd - perhaps the shorts are bright pink?

I am one for keeping with the 'corporate' identity of the club with blue and white. I admire the Dutch when they flood the stadium with orange when they support their national side. nother reason why I would always want Town to wear their blue shirts away from home as well , only changing them when they clash with the home side. Still that wouldn't sell as many replica shirts would it? So that won't happen.

With this mulitude of colours for away shirts, the stands look a complete hotchpotch of colours. So whilst this shirt looks OK, I would have preferred a white shirt with blue shorts and keep it all blue and white... Simples.

Not a bad shirt, better than the red i think. Agree with most on here that white as the main colour may have been better.

Why do people keep asking for a white shirt? Becuase there aren't many teams that play in blue and white is there... Huddersfield, Sheff Wednesday,Colchester Reading, QPR, Leicester, West Brom just to name a few and that doesn't include those in the Prem. Who could we possible play who would clash with both blue and black? (Who we could expect to play so don;t say Inter Milan)

Seems a very logical choice to me, especially when you consider it matches the colour scheme of Marcus Evans Group, of which we are a part. I quite like the design myself, but hom come we no longer get the chance to design and vote for our shirts any more?

This is all a matter of personal taste really, so here's my opinion for what it's worth: I quite like the new black & white and might even consider adding it to my already ridiculoulsy large collection of shirts. I think it's definitely one of the better ones from the last few years; I'm not much of a fan of red, and it wasn't so long ago that we were running around in ghastly orange. I was not tempted to buy either! Well, that's not quite true. I nearly went for the red at the reduced price of £9-99 during our trip over earlier this month, but still wasn't quite convinced. I also tend to agree with the some of the comments above: 1) Why bother to change from blue & white unless strictly necessary. 2) A "negative" of the current shirt might have been more logical in that white would have stood out more against anything resembling blue. There was a cream away shirt with black stripes (as blue_em-away mentions), but there was also the Greene King white and black of the Premiership (if I'm not mistaken). I thought that was neat, and I can never understand why I didn't buy one. So if anyone has one to sell (small or medium) let me know! (Hope I haven't just broken some site rule there: apologies in advance, Phil.)

Why I will never buy a shirt again -

I had every shirt from the 89/90 season (home and away/third in some cases) It was a mssive collection and on the later ones I had the names and leagues patches on them and also the signature of the player. I moved to London 6 years ago and left my collection neatly folded in a chest of drawers back at my mum and dads. One weekend I came home to find the drawers empty. I asked my mum where my shirts were and this was her response - "Those old things, as you don't wear them any more (I got a little fatter for some of them when I had from the age of 8) SO I GAVE THEM TO THE JUMBLE SALE"

I don't think I cried as much as when I was at my grandads funeral. Worst day ever and vowed never to buy a shirt ever again!

I hate black kits, there are so many teams wearing them, and anyway what happened to the fans vote on shirts or did I miss it or something. Yorkshireblue; we could clash with Rochdale as they play in blue and black but fingers crossed we won't have to play them.
