Keane Loving Life in Suffolk
Keane Loving Life in Suffolk
Saturday, 6th Mar 2010 12:00

Boss Roy Keane says he and his family are firmly settled in Suffolk, the only thing that’s wrong with life is Town’s results.

The Town manager is understood to be moving to Woodbridge, having previously been living close to Aldeburgh.

Keane says that he and his family — and dogs Triggs and Izak — are finding life in Suffolk very much to their taste: “We love it, really nice, we’re settled in. The kids are happy, the dogs are happy, I’m happy, the wife’s happy, results could be better.”

The Blues boss says it’s important for managers to get away from the stresses of the game: “You’ve got to have a quality of life away from sport.”

Keane was deeply upset to hear of Macclesfield manager Keith Alexander’s death earlier this week: “Very sad, shocking news. What we get upset about and then we see a young manager losing his life. Absolutely shocking.”

The 38-year-old says managers have to keep a close eye on their health: “There have previously been been high profile managers with heart problems.

“It’s stressful but you have to try and keep an eye on that, whether it’s your diet or whatever, you’ve got to keep fit.

“You can get health checks every six months, I do it through the League Managers Association, but obviously I’m still relatively young. But a lot of managers I know cancel these appointments.

“You’ve got to look after number one. Physically you’ve got to be in good shape.”

He's obviously settling down for permanent retirement here. Theres no way he'll get another job.

What do you mean he won't get another job? From what I remember, he took a side that was bottom of the camionship to automatic promotion and kept them in the prem. I also believe he has built up a strong side here, the results are the only thing missing, and I'm sure they will come soon.

I confess he hasn't been great here thus far, but some managers struggle at new clubs. He was great for Sunderland, and one poor season doesn't make a poor manager.

I think Tom the blue is sufferening from amnesia ! Sunderland did well initially but in the end won NOTHING ! Keane lost the dressing room, lost respect and generally lost it ,which resulted in him walking ! Perhaps he would like to start his walk AWAY from Suffolk as soon as possibe ( PLEASE !)

Amnesia, kentblue, I thought Sunderland won the Championship, then he established them in the Premier, if he does that then walks I will be happy

I said they did well intially and then it was down hill from then on . It was NOT Keane who established them in the Premiership - they were doomed under him as we may well be . The man brings disharmony and disunity.

They were 'doomed' under him? He kept them in the premier league! And how the hell do you know how the players are feeling behind the scenes? All the Town players are saying how they like him more than they expected to, you're obviously letting your dislike for him as a player sway your judgement of him as a person and as a manager.
