Scowcroft Talks to Leicester
Scowcroft Talks to Leicester
Wednesday, 25th Jul 2001 15:58

As has seemed inevitable Town announced this afternoon that James Scowcroft is talking terms with Leicester City. The club has said several times recently that they are keen to keep him, but it seems the Stanton-based player wants to go and the club is not standing in his way.

George Burley said: "It is a big disappointment for me to allow James to leave the club but it was evident during the club's recent tour to Scandinavia that James was very unsettled and was keen to enter into discussions with Leicester City. I feel it is important that everybody in my squad is totally commited to the team and I made it perfectly clear to James that I was eager to keep him at the club but unfortunately he's made his mind up to go."

Scowcroft is thought to want to play up front and have a regular start in the side neither of which is likely to happen at Town.

It is thought a fee of between £3m and £4m has been agreed between the two clubs.
