Leicester's new signing James Scowcroft scored his first goal for his new club within 20 minutes of coming on against Stoke last night. The 25-year-old striker completed his deal there earlier in the week.

Scowcroft headed a Stefan Oakes cross into the net on 86 after coming on a second half substitute.

Scowcroft said of his time at Town: "I had some great times at Ipswich and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Winning the Supporters' PLayer of the Year in 2000 was the highlight of my time there and I want to thank all the fans for their kindness and support. I also want to wish the lads every success in the future."

With Sky announcing that they are to show Chelsea and Leeds' UEFA Cup games specualtion is mounting about who will show Town's. Reports last month said that the BBC were in talks with all three UEFA Cup clubs and with them losing out on two Town look likely to have their games shown by the corporation, although the channel is taking an interest in the two Intertoto Cup representatives.

However, they are not the only ones interested with both Anglia and Channel Five also wanting to cover the Town games.

Town's commercial director Paul Clouting said: "It's no surprise Sky have chosen to show Chelsea and Leeds United given the television media shareholdings in the clubs."

He added that Town "have held all sorts of discussions for overseas and domestic coverage."

Of the discussions the BBC said: "We are weighing up our options in the light of the recent announcement by Sky Television. We have held talks with Ipswich Town and we are monitoring the results of both Newcastle United and Aston Villa in the Intertoto Cup. We will make an announcement on our plans to televise the UEFA Cup matches as soon as the schedule is available."

Anglia TV also say that "discussions are on-going."

As for Channel Five they said yesterday: "Nothing is confirmed at the moment. We tend to decide our football coverage nearer the times of the matches."

Town's first game will be on September 13th with the draw on August 24th, the day before the Charlton game.
