Trotter Completes Wembley Double

Liam Trotter helped Millwall into the Championship as the Lions beat Swindon 1-0 in Saturday afternoon’s League One play-off final at Wembley. Lions skipper Paul Robinson netted the only goal of the game just before half-time.

The 21-year-old Town midfielder was on the winning side in League One’s finale for the second year running having been in the Scunthorpe team which coincidentally beat his current loan side 3-2 last season. Also in the winning Millwall team was former Blue Scott Barron, impressing in an unfamiliar right-back role.

Trotter has been offered a new one-year contract by the Blues but Millwall manager Kenny Jackett has already expressed an interest in signing him permanently, while other clubs, perhaps including former loan side Scunthorpe, may also be in the hunt.

Pleased for him personally, but can't say i'm delighted about Millwall being in the Championship, still, I suppose we can always put an offer in for Charlie Austin now!!! I think I'd be happy to let Trotter go to be honest, not sure he would add anything to our midfield, but hey good luck to him if he does go.

Trotter was awful today was never in the game, let him go theres no chance he is gunna get in our team next year. i wouldn't of even offerd him a contract. Charlie austin would be a quality signing, he was unlucky when he went 1 on 1 it bobbled as soon as he shot otherwise that would of been straight into the back of the net.

I suspect the fact that Milwall (scum) have now been promotoed will see Trotter sign for them , as he knows only to well that his chances of regular football lay with them , not us !

i hope trotter stays lets face it he has a 100% record in play offs so if we get in them next season he could be a good luck charm

Charlie Austin, 20 years old and scored 20 goals this season. Before that he scored loads at lower levels, so his record is similar to Rhodes. He sounds just the sort of player we should be looking at, rather than Premier League failures on massive wages.

no we should be looking at top socring championship players like chopra etc. not young wild card league one duffers who might just make the cut if we are lucky we have wickham for that

league one duffer? hes scored 20 goals this season in his first year in the football league! I would rather have chopra but this lad could still cut it out in the championship

kirbs - it made sense to offer him a contract as, if he does leave, then we'll get compensation for him rather than losing him for nowt. I agree with you on Austin. I am actually of the opinion he could be another Kevin Phillips, one of those players who would bang in the goals regardless of which league he's in.

Get Chopra & Austin on board as Hooper seems to be Interesting lots of clubs and I would question if he really wants to join us, as I suppose it depends on want he get offered elsewhere.

Hopefully Trotter will sign for Millwall. Great decision by Roy to OFFER him a contract, thus ensuring we can ask for a fee. I agree with another post, I thought Trotter was absolutely dreadful today, and surely will not beat Norris, Leadbitter to a place? That said, good luck to the guy.

As for Millwall - well that's def a game to leave 5 minutes early!

Re Hooper - I see Middlesboro have tabled a £2.5M bid. That seems a lot to me.
