Swansea Make Priskin Offer
Swansea Make Priskin Offer
Friday, 23rd Jul 2010 22:49

Swansea City are understood to have offered Town £400,000 for striker Tamás Priskin. New Swans boss Brendan Rodgers was the Watford manager during the 2008/09 season in which Priskin scored 14 goals, leading to his £1.7 million move to the Blues.

Rodgers, who also targeted Priskin last summer when he was Reading boss, neither confirmed nor denied his interest in the former Győri ETO striker when asked earlier in the week.

The Hungarian international wasn’t amongst the eight players the Blues recently made available for transfer, perhaps signalling that Roy Keane intends to give the 23-year-old another chance this season. Priskin, who spent the second half of last season on loan at QPR, has started all of Town’s first team pre-season friendlies so far, but without scoring.

If Town do decide to sell one of last summer’s bigger money signings, the Blues will almost certainly be looking for a fee somewhat nearer to the figure they paid a year ago. Priskin is contracted to Town until 2012.

£400,000? Are we offering bargains again...75% less than last year. Perhaps a swop for both their full backs....

Tamas Priskin, what a tragic signing! People tear into Magilton for wasting £750K on Lisbie, but at least Lisbie managed six league goals for Town, compared with just one for £1.7M Priskin. He has looked well out of his depth every time I have seen him and he doesn't even seem to put the effort in; and from reports of pre-season he doesn't seem to be improving. Based on that and the fact he flopped on loan at QPR, would you pay more than £400K for him?! I really hope we can get it up to £700K and "just" lose a million pounds. An awful signing by Roy Keane. £1.7M was a big gamble on a player who scored 15 in 68 games at Watford (that ratio is about the same as Stead at Ipswich, and he's been linked with a £200K move).

£400k? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Are we seriously even considering this offer? A loss of 1.3mil isnt something our club can afford.

If Rodgers thought he was worth 1.7 million last year he must be expected to value him the same now or did he con Keane ?

Will never forget his miss of a one-on-one against Derby. But maybe Fülop will make him shine? (Unlikely)

Chaps we seriously should be grateful for any offer!!! agree, £400k is low, but if they've offered that then we should tell them £500k & he's yours!!, cut our losses, not on the wage bill either. The sooner he goes the better!!!
My 4 yr old son has only scored one league goal less than Priskin!!!
Damn I'm funny at times!!!

2 weeks left until the start of the new season and all the comments i seem to read on here are 'fans' moaning about the lack of signings, RK and the players we currently have. I know the chance that any of the players/coaching staff come on to the site and take notice is probably quite low but if this filters into the fans going to the games then we can expect another medicore season as the atmosphere will be dead as it was last year. We should be getting behind the players, manager and club starting from now. I agree that Priskin hasn't been very good as yet but if we get behind him and the rest of the lads then hopefully we can enjoy a good season, I personally believe that Priskin could offer us something this year but I do feel that we need to give him and Connor a run of 4/5 games in a row to build a partnership (unless we sign Chopra), he may not score in the first 3/4 but I believe he will come good especially if Civelli is fully over his knee injury then he might get some good service from out wide, Colback was brill last season but wasn't a left winger and came inside too often, Civelli will attack the full backs and get crosses in which is def something we missed last year. Just get behind the lads and here's to a good season!!!!!!!!!!

If the majority of fans in the north stand got behind priskin and lisbie and all the others youve boyed in the past, im sure there confidence would rise, and they would play better. ive never seen home crowds boo there own players as much as us, just get behind the boys like everyone else

Yeh i agree about the support for the lads n the manager, i have a season ticket in the greene king and me and my mate try constantly to get people singing with the simple blue army!! but no one really joins in much anymore. Which is disappointing and shows lack of support i for 1 will still be singing next year ! COYB!!

How his career has appeared to decline in just 12 months. I remember coming on this board before we signed him. "Sign him up" we cried. "£1.7M?" we questioned. "A little over the top, but worth it for his age and the season he has had". This was based merely on Youtube videos, especially the one SINGLE video posted on here that made him look good.

This shows you never to use youtube as a guide (that's hardly rocket science). £500,000 is his current value to me. It's the same with stocks and shares, sometimes you buy high, their values go down, you can wait forever in the hope you recover all your money back, or you can cut your losses, buy other shares, and hope your stock improves that way. I think we should take the money, save the wages, and use it on a better player.

My initial reaction to this offer (less than a quarter of what ITFC paid less than a year ago) was disgust! That said, TP has done nothing during his time with Ipswich, and even less during this pre-season, to suggest he is worth half what we paid for him. To be offered anything, when his basic transfer value appears to be nil, could be considered reasonable business. It is just a bitter pill to swallow...

Bad piece of business that is showing no signs of getting any better...

No way. If we manage to get the ball down and play this season he will be one of our best performers. Great eye for a pass and brilliant on the ball. Fair enough he does not work to hard but everyone seems to like (useless) pablo and (moves about 12 meters in a game) garvan.
Give him a chance...................
