Town Amongst Clubs Chasing Chelsea Youngster
Town Amongst Clubs Chasing Chelsea Youngster

Town are amongst a number of clubs to have made loan enquiries regarding Chelsea winger or striker Scott Sinclair. The Blues, Swansea and Blackpool are all believed to be chasing the 21-year-old former Bristol Rovers trainee.

Sinclair’s chances at Chelsea have been rare since he joined them for a fee which could ultimately reach £1 million in 2005 and he has been out on loan at Plymouth, QPR, Charlton, Crystal Palace, Birmingham and Wigan in recent seasons.

The England U17, U18, U19 and U20 international is well known to Blackpool boss Ian Holloway, having played under him at Plymouth and Holloway was also keen to sign the Bath-born player when he was manager at Leicester.

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers, understood to have been Roy Keane’s target for the role of Town assistant manager, will also know Sinclair well from his time running Chelsea’s reserve team.

Blackpool appear to be the frontrunners due to Sinclair’s link with Holloway, the Tangerines’ Premier League status and his girlfriend Helen Flanagan, a Coronation Street actress, living in the North-West.

Meanwhile, Blackpool are said to be amongst the clubs interested in Town skipper Jon Walters, who is reported to have handed in a transfer request. Stoke City and QPR have also been linked.

Would be good on a season long loan.
Pacy winger. I think he can play on either side. But correct me if I'm wrong.

agree that this makes sense, however feel that Chelsea are more likley to allow him to go to a Premier League side like last season.

Would be very good for us but extremely unlikely unless he wants to stay close to London. With his girlfriend being oop north and his relationship with Ollie, Blackpool are the favourites.

would be awesome! I have always rated him very highly. would be a quality addition to our squad. He is fast, with a good ability cross. Big things have been expected of him at Chelsea. But with his friendship with both Brendan Rodgers and Ian Holloway, i very much doubt he will end up here.

Here's to hoping anyway....!

Go on Roy, go for it.....!

I've a friend who is a season ticket holder at Wigan and said he was very poor when there and Sinclair had an attitude problem thinking he was too big for the club.

I'd prefer we steered clear!

I don't believe this will happen. We missed on a lot more "realistic" targets than Sinclair. I don't even believe the rumour is trueful... Let us concentrate on Chopra or whoever the striker Keane is targeting because we will not be scoring anytime soon.

Not all that IMO.

Kingkeano - I'd say it isn't better than anyone as he won't be cheap in terms of wages, so as we can loan people at almost anypoint as an "emergency" then we are better off waiting until the window closes and the premiership clubs have registered their 25 squad members. A deal can certainly be done then as they will want those players not in the squads playing football.

I agree TractorMan... to a point. Whilst we may get better players once the premier league squads are set as 25 is not a large number fo some of these teams... we would be well into the season by Sept 1st... It really depends if we sign anyone permanant (Not Furlop... a Foward) in the next week or so.

would be a great signing , but can see this going like every other player were after !

Redmond: But would you still say that if the rumour from wigan is true and he's so full of himself he doesn't put the effort in and is therefore not that good. (In addition to the morale issue of having someone of that ilk in the squad)
