Trialist Baptiste Could Return
Trialist Baptiste Could Return
Saturday, 21st Aug 2010 08:48

Blues manager Roy Keane says former trialist Kerry Baptiste could still return to the Blues for a further spell. The Trinidadian international impressed Keane during his previous trial at the club back in March.

The Town manager says there is no date yet set for the 28-year-old striker or winger's second stint with the club: “No news on that. We said we’d probably bring him back but at the time it was a bit quiet - we didn’t have any games for the boy. We’re going to keep an eye on that on and hopefully get the boy back over because he did well in terms of training.”

Baptiste, an international team-mate of Carlos Edwards and Town target Jason Scotland, is still with the Joe Public club in his home country, where he is captain.

Keane says Brazilian trialist Marcus Picciarelli, who played in the reserves friendly at Leiston, has not been offered a contract.

Meanwhile, reported Town target Brett Pitman’s £600,000 move to Blackpool has broken down. The Blues are amongst a number of clubs said to be eyeing the 22-year-old striker. Pitman is now said to be close to completing a move to another club.

Elsewhere, Marcus Evans’s THG company have won a contract from the FAI to provide official corporate hospitality at the new Aviva Stadium in Dublin, utilising Town’s ticketing facilities for sales.

If he learns quickly in training he could be worth a put as could play in the wide forward roles we employ in our system.

And on the note of Brett Pitman - sign him up!

If its down to Simon Clegg to sign a player - we can forget any player joining us it seems, as the man appears incapable of completing deals to bring players in. He lacks the neccessary football experience to get these deals done, it appears !!

WE ARE IN DEEP SHYTE !

Agrred ArnieM, Clegg for some reason seems unable to clinch these deals. We really need a couple of players (hopefully forwards) to gain some momentum. If we're on form and the likes of Wickham and Civelli come back then we could be in for an exciting season!

I seem to remember Mr. Derek Bowden being equally as poor at closing deals as well!

I don't think that Derek Bowden ever had such ridiculous responsibility over footballing matters.

We have to remember that Marcus Evans has not become a multi millionaire through doing bad deals. Clegg is part of his inner sanctum and will be of the same ilk.

Evans and co - like it or not - closed the deal to bring in Keane and that would have seemed unlikely previously.

So, I suggest we trust them to bring in the players Keane thinks we needs. It's only 21 August, so no need to panic yet.

This news does not fill me with great enthusiasm. He had a trial with St. Albans FC after us last year and he wasn't taken up. Has a link here-
