Keane Not Interested in Manager of the Month
Keane Not Interested in Manager of the Month
Saturday, 28th Aug 2010 09:35

Town boss Roy Keane says the possibility of winning August’s Manager of the Month award is of no interest to him. Depending on results today, the Irishman could be one of a number of Championship managers in the running for the gong.

Keane said: “If you think I’m interested in individual awards, either as a manager or a player, you clearly don’t know me.”

The last Town manager to win the award was Joe Royle in November 2004. Keane himself won in February and March 2007 when with Sunderland.

Meanwhile, one of this morning’s papers again links the Blues with West Brom striker Luke Moore, who was previously claimed to be part of a proposed swap deal with Jon Walters prior to his switch to Stoke.

Town will learn their Carling Cup third round opponents at lunchtime today when the draw is held on Soccer Saturday on Sky between 12.15pm and 12.30pm.

Good, well said Roy.

Moore has a poor goal scoring record and is not really what we need.

If Q.P.R don't lose at Derby today then I think Neil Warnock will get it. Not that it matters really.

That's quite a pithy and succinct quote! Good one, Roy.

Anyone who doubts him should remember the Champions league semi final when he was at Utd. He got booked meaning he'd miss the final then played like a man possessed to ensure they made the final. True team player.

You know he means it aswell. I'm sure Keane will make it to the top in football management and Marcus Evans ought to be considering a new contact for the man sooner rather than later.

No, he should be judged on results and achieving his agreed objective (promotion). It's a great start to this season but last season was hugely disappointing after very big spending, so let's see how we do. As far as contracts go, we should look to secure the key players whose contracts are up at the end of the season, including the likes of Norris and McAuley.

KEANO, What a legend, i would like him to win it though, knowing him he would give it to the team, and that would prove what a manager he is, but he does deserve it aswell

He'll probably get it now, considering the results we've had against the teams we've played.

RK may not be interested in the award but I am. If nothing else it demonstrates to the rest of the Championship that he is doing a good job and that the team he commands are a threat to their own ambitions. Just to be in the running reinforces the sense that we are getting things right not just in results but in performances too.

When you looked at the schedule back in June when it was announced it looked extremely demanding given the way we ended last season. The team (and with reflected glory RK) have deserved immense credit for the way they have played during August.

IF RK does win MotM for August it will be a fitting acknowledgment of the way ITFC have played over the 6 games they have been required to play in effectively a period of 3 weeks.

Come on Roy if you win it, enjoy it. Your team has given us the best start to the season for many years. We're enjoying it and any accolade along the way is fully deserved.

keano may not want the award but the he, and especially the players, deserve it. completely unbeaten in league and cup, and we must have a lower wage bill than cardiff or QPR; who is more deserving than keano?

BUT jones or warnock can keep it if the curse strikes in two weeks time!

When is this announced? Surely he has got to be the front runner?
