Town to Make McPhail Move Today?
Town to Make McPhail Move Today?
Tuesday, 31st Aug 2010 10:17

Town boss Roy Keane will look to try and complete the signing of Cardiff’s Stephen McPhail before the transfer window closes later today, according to a report in Wales. McPhail was first mentioned in connection with the Blues early this month and again yesterday.

Keane said over the weekend that new additions were unlikely before the window closed but has also indicated that he is looking to make three loan signings, amongst them a midfielder.

McPhail, who has only a year remaining on his Cardiff contract, is well-known to Keane, the two having played together with Ireland .

The 30-year-old is fit again having undergone a cartilage operation earlier in the summer and was amongst Cardiff’s subs as they won 2-0 at Portsmouth at the weekend.

The transfer window closes at 6pm today, but Football League clubs can make 'emergency' loan signings from next week.

bluelady - where did he say we shouldn't sign him? He was simply asking if he was over his cancer problems. Good grief, have you been on the steroids again?!

I assume your name is ironic?! And to quote "oh so if we are not sure we dont buy him cause we'd not want someone with cancer now would we?" You were clearing putting words in his mouth. Its VERY relevant if he still got health issues, no we shouldn't buy him. If he's ok now, then yes all is fine.

So Marcus Evans will want to fork out his money for someone who may not be able to play if he has cancer? Thats why they have medicals BlueLady to check that if they are going to spend money on him and pay him wages that he is fit enough for the course.

im aware of medicals etc, therefore makes it even more irrelevant to bring it up on this forum really doesnt it. I assume as he has starting playing again for Cardiff again this season that both is injury and illness are both sorted. I just think a little more sensativity on this forum would be welcomed.

agree Smithy we are so short in the midfield area and just read some reports from Cardiff he is very highly thought of.

Bluelady.

Yes its an odd question to ask, but justified IMHO. Even though the answer is probably a bit bleeding obvious.

We all have our own personal hang ups about this, but there is no need for people to rear up and bite peoples heads off everytime it is mentioned without an air of sympathy.

Chill out about it. Cars kill more than cancer. You use cars without fuss!!??!!

well blue-em-away i just asked what the point was, it was Wallinford who then sent a very sarcastic comment back that got my back up. Yes i have very personal experience of cancer and yes maybe i am over sensitive but i am sure there are many others too. (and you only have to look at our club to know how it can strike anyone at anytime). surely the more relevent question could be is he over the major knee surgery he had last year as that is more likely to cause him long term issues that will prevent him playing? This forum is to discuss him as a footballer and what he could bring or not, the club are clever enough to work out if he is fit enough to join, thats my point.

Really happy about that. I think he would be a great signing and good to have another player that can put his foot on it. A couple of more loan signings at right-back and a forward that can also play wide and I think we have a pretty decent squad.

Where does he play?

BluePG midfield, mainly attacking.

blue_em_away added 11:11 - Aug 31
Yes I see your point, and you are right. The club will know the answer to this.

But...... Maysixth has a right to ask without you snapping at him. Wallingfordboy is just sticking up for him.

Truce??? COYB!!!! Remember!

Back to subject.
Would be a good signing, but at the right price. Has a price been mentioned?? 750k i recon.

bluelady added 11:14 - Aug 31
or long term loan blue_em_away? And yes truce but isn't maysixth big enough to stick up for him/herself? Wallingford was very quick to defend and not at all polite in the way he did it, just felt a bit more sensativity would have been nice. like i say its very personal to me so maybe i was slightly unreasonable.
