O'Dea Injury Not Serious
O'Dea Injury Not Serious
Tuesday, 31st Aug 2010 22:01

Defender Darren O’Dea’s scan on the knee injury he suffered in training with the Republic of Ireland squad this morning has shown only a minor sprain. The loanee has impressed in his first three games for Town since temporarily joining from Celtic earlier in the month.

O’Dea’s injury will be assessed again on Wednesday morning before a decision is made on whether the 23-year-old will travel to Armenia for Friday’s Euro 2012 qualifier.

Team doctor Alan Byrne says the problem initially looked worse than it is: "Darren caught his studs in the turf and twisted his knee. He was in some discomfort initially and his hamstring went into spasm. It settled down and he was able to walk off the pitch unattended."

Brilliant news. We need all the experienced bodies we can get at the moment and O'Dea has certainly looked good enough for the championship so far. Portsmouth is going to be a very difficult game now seeing as they have brought both Dave Kitson and Liam Lawrence in who are also very capable championship players. Also how often does a striker score on their debut!?!? I know Stead and Pitman didn't but that seemed a rare occurence.

a bit of a change of topic but, isn't it nice to see stoke sign a few more attacking players as walters will now be a bench warmer haha.
