Keane Confirms Triggs Still With Us
Keane Confirms Triggs Still With Us
Tuesday, 21st Sep 2010 08:42

Town boss Roy Keane has confirmed that his dog Triggs hasn’t died, contrary to newspaper reports which appeared 10 days ago.

After the initial claims, some Irish papers the weekend before last reported that Triggs, who came into the public spotlight when walked by her owner after Keane’s return from his row with Mick McCarthy at the 2002 World Cup, hadn’t passed on after all.

Keane says that there were no truth in the earlier reports and that Triggs is still very much with us: “It’s not true. My dog is still alive.”

The Blues boss says he’s never shocked about what’s reported about him: "Lies and lies and lies. Unbelievable. Stories about my dog or Jon Walters, nothing surprises me."

Keane spent Sunday watching his native Cork’s Gaelic football side win the All-Ireland final against Down, an occasion he very much enjoyed: “The All-Ireland final will beat any World Cup final or European final, trust me. Not that I’ve been to a World Cup final, but I’ve been to a few Champions League finals.

“It’s about local pride, that’s what GAA is — people representing their parishes and the streets where they grew up.

“Gaelic football in Ireland is different. They don’t move clubs when they get fed up. They represent the people they’re brought up with. It was a great day, I enjoyed it.”

The Blues boss, a committed Catholic, says he was disappointed not have been able to get to see the Pope during his visit to the UK: "I would have liked to have seen the Pope. That would be a good experience. I'll get to Rome soon and will hopefully get to meet him. To get a few contacts!"

he's right about the GAA final too - incredible scenes, first final i've seen since living over in ireland. the reaction of the players at the end was awesome, puts overpaid footballers to shame.

“Gaelic football in Ireland is different. They don't move clubs when they get fed up. They represent the people they're brought up with." Why is he slamming English football, they don't move on when they get 'fed up' and the 'represent the people they're brought up with'. this is a bit rich coming from Roy keane isn't it people.

"Reports have been received today that ChambersM made a positive comment in respect of Ipswich manager Roy Keane -ChambersM - a confirmed Keanophile made the comments in respect of Ipswich's positive start to the season and heaped praise on the Ipswich manager Ad Nauseum..."

Chambers you're right. What a hypocrite!

One thing is liking it another is slagging off football.

If Gaelic football is so brilliant why doesn't anyone give a shyte?

Why is it hypocritical of him to comment on the fact that gaelic footballers generally remain with their local sides and Association Footballers (I don't think he singled out England) are unloyal ingrates who would sell their mothers for a tenner (although apparently John Terry's mother costs a fiver) let alone sign for the highest bidder.

Do fans actually exist who believe a player loves the club he is with because he kisses the badge on his shirt?

Loyal players do exist, but they are few and far between - Keane could actually be taken as a good example of this - He joined Nottingham Forest from Ireland (hence starting his career) then onto Manchester United - was this after Forest's relegation? where he remained until they wanted rid.

Nothing hypocritical there...

Good to see a nothing story generating some debate though!

Keano - Here's an idea. Get us promoted this year, then finish in the top 4 in the Prem next year, qualifying for Champs league. Get drawn in the same group as Roma, then you can pop in and see the pope on the away leg.............................................SOMEBODY WAKE ME...........

ChambersM - Do you ring when you walk.....cos you are a total Bellend!

If Roy ever does make a visit to the Vatican, maybe he can find an answer to the age old question "Does the pope sh!t in the woods?"

Eh? Oh...
