Thursday, 23rd Sep 2010 14:35

Town will be number six in the draw for the fourth round of the Carling Cup which will be held at around 12.15pm on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday.

The Blues are in the fourth round for the first time since 2002/03 when they went out to Liverpool on penalties at Anfield after a 1-1 draw.

Town will hope for a home tie when the balls are drawn, the Blues having had five successive away games in the Carling Cup and eight in a row in both cup competitions, seven since Roy Keane became manager.

The fourth round ties will take place on either Tuesday 26th or Wednesday 27th October.

I don't know about other TWTD users but I'm starting to get a little excited about the Carling Cup now! Looking down that list I would say the only two teams we probably don't have a chance against are Manchester United and Arsenal but both of those sides may put out vulnerable reserve sides as Scunthorpe proved by scoring twice. We are one round away from the quarter finals and if Man Utd get drawn against Arsenal and we can get someone like Brentford or Northampton (please God at home) then we have a genuine chance of maybe making the semi-finals which would be sensational. And as everyone knows, when a competition gets to the semi-final stages anything can happen!

Town have 60% chance of a prem side so i'm hoping for either a very low number or very high after no. 6

Torn between a big-side moneyspinner at home and a lesser club that we could hopefully beat and progress further. I just have this feeling it will be a Town vs Wet Sham tie next round ....

Wouldn't mind West Ham since beatable and always a good atmosphere however I've got a horrible feeling we'll get something like Wign away which we may well lose and will not be remotley exciting :s

Will be gutted if we draw Northampton or Brentford at home as I will be morally obliged to buy a ticket for what will probably be a poor game. if we are not going to get Man U or the Arse at home then please let it be away.

Hoping for a home draw, gives me & the family a good reason to travel up from Devon for a few days break in the school holidays.

good points you're making there big foot, i can just imagine getting a team like wigan or west brom away, a team that is better than us but not very exciting. I would choose one of the extremes, either man utd/arsenal, or northampton/brentford. Whoever we get, im sure the lads will have a good go and keep the game tight. Excited for saturdays draw now!

I'm hoping for an away tie, more chance of winning and seems like we have the formations and players to be playing really well but not the same when we are at home. West ham away? ;)

Brentford or Northampton away would be just fine. Games we can win and another new ground for me to visit. Number 70 - and I only count grounds where I have seen Ipswich
