Fülöp Rated at 50/50 for Forest
Thursday, 21st Oct 2010 14:14

Keeper Márton Fülöp is rated at 50/50 for Saturday’s game at Nottingham Forest due to the back injury which forced him out of Tuesday’s defeat at Watford.

Boss Roy Keane says that if the Hungarian misses out he has no concerns about continuing with Brian Murphy in goal: “Márton’s still touch and go. He’s rested again today, he might do a little bit tomorrow, but if there’s any doubt we won’t play him because we’ve got a very good goalkeeper to back him up. Márton would be 50/50.”

Fülöp has been suffering with the problem since returning from international duty with Hungary last week.

Keane says the Blues suffered no new injuries against the Hornets, so Darren O’Dea (knee) and Mark Kennedy (hamstring) are the only players currently sidelined, while Alan Quinn and Luciano Civelli are still not ready for first team action after groin and knee injuries respectively.

Shame if he doesn't make it, but like Keane says we do have a great back up keeper....... (I guess he means Murphy!)

Retro, what have rubbish tabloid rumours got to do with Fulop's injury?

We might aswell rest Fulop, got a good enough back up and we don't want him out for weeks like o'dea and kennedy! Need much more stability at the back

Thought he was at fault for Platt's goal on Sat - flapping around. Maybe he's getting the R. Wright treatment

Did not think it was a desperately needed signing but he does have a presence about him with his height. If any doubt with him play Murphy Saturday and again on Tuesday by which time Fulop should be fit to face Millwall if required.

One aspect of Murphs game are his huge kicks outs. He managed a few assists last season. Its nice to have a different option when required for quick breaks when opposition defense is out of position. Keeps them on their toes!
A potent weapon as long as its not over used!

Poor old Flop! Give him a goulsah, Keano, and that'll swing it to 51/49.

50/50 - Not good for a match that we need to win really. Especially with the two defeats there is added pressure.

wont weaken the team if he's out, only diff between the keepers to me seems to be fulops extra few inches in height. if anythin murphy equal shot stopper , better kicker and releases the ball quicker and more often to the full backs..be harsh to leave him out of the cup game considering he's mostly the reason we're still in it...
