Keane Targeting Fifth Loanee
Keane Targeting Fifth Loanee
Monday, 25th Oct 2010 12:25

Boss Roy Keane has revealed that that the Blues are talking to a number of clubs regarding a potential fifth loan signing. Keane feels that one area of his squad is short of cover, having previously indicated that he could look for an additional striker.

The Town manager said: “We’re in discussion with one or two clubs at the moment, but nothing might happen in the next week or so.

“I think we need one more player, I’ve said that over the last few weeks as there’s a certain area of the club where if we got any sort of injury we’d be short. I don’t think you need to be Einstein to work out where that might be.”

Keane has revealed that a couple of his players picked up knocks in training on Sunday, with one of those injuries likely keep an unnamed member of his squad out of Tuesday’s Carling Cup tie against Northampton.

The Blues boss says those players will be assessed today and tomorrow before he names his side after training on Tuesday.

Winger Reggie Lambe will come into Keane's thoughts after returning from international duty with Bermuda’s U20s yesterday, earlier than had been expected with their third match against Haiti having been called off after their opponents pulled out of the U20 World Cup qualifying group.

Jack Colback and Jake Livermore are cup-tied and will miss out on Tuesday having played for Sunderland and Tottenham earlier in the competition.

Given that we're now conceding too many and not scoring nearly enough, you don't have to be Einstein to know that we're inadequate in ALL areas. In fact you could say that the one category of players that we already have too many of is "loanees".

Last throw of the dice by Mr Keane? A few more defeats and god forbid, a defeat off the Budgies will mark the end of this sad, sorry state of affairs that is Keane's tenure at Ipswich. SURELY !!!!

If we persist in only using one striker then we don't need any more. Perhaps we could borrow someone with consistent, enterprising, attacking, tactics to run the team.

It has to be a striker... And IF we get a decent one - not a mickey mouse half hearted effort then we might just get back on course! Come on Keano - pull the rabbit out of the hat! One more roll of the dice... Next round of the cup and a decent run of league wins! Not too much to wish for is it??? ha ha! COYB's!

To be honest, the loanee whose time I really want to see come to an end at Town is Keane himself! Isn't it about time we gave him back? Do any other clubs want him?
Then and only then will we be able to put the wheels back on this very broken bus of ours.
But hey, what do I know? I am only a life-time Town fan!!!!!!

We should give brown or eastman more of a chance at right back, the couple of games that they played i dont recall them making any mistakes. we should only get a striker on loan if we are going to play 4-4-2 because theres no point of getting a 5th striker in if we are only going to play 4-5-1.

We dont need a goalkeeper. got 3 good keepers, defiantly dont need any midfielders.

What we need to do is get an assistant...

Haha I like to have a laugh but in all seriousness, we do need a striker to get onto the final balls that our midfield can and often do produce.....

This has finally forced me to write!

As we enter the 'will he or won't he go' period of this season you can't really have too much sympathy for RK. I like nearly all other town fans were buoyant when we learned he was the replacement for Jim Magilton back then

Next came the headline capturing comment of hoping to secure promotion in just one season, closely followed by comments about ex team-mates mangerial failings

We really should have taken note as the whole Keane era has been headline grabbing comments and contradictions. The sceptic in me wonders if his appointment was made to take the focus away from the 'job' that Evans & Clegg have been doing behind the scenes. I was never a great Sheepshanks fan but feel that he did have the club at heart whereas it is purely a financial deal for Evans and a highly paid job for Clegg

Keane has made some bad signings (Martin & Priskin), been left with some dodgy Jim signings (Lisbie, Counago,Quinn etc...) and only really flourished when delving into the loan market

Similar to Jim's inability to sign a ball player like himself, RK has also fell short here and has also substitued 'runners' such as Norris & Leadbitter for real influential midfield generals who boss the game like he used to

We have full-backs who are either out of position centre backs or deep midfield players and almost too many of the same sort of midfield options

Up-front we have a proven goalscorer in Scotland who too many times is left to battle alone up front, whenever Priskin looks to be improving he his either taken off or not involved in the next game and then we have the jewel in Wickham who has not really delivered to the hype and is getting a worrying tendency to pick up bookings

Despite my negativity I would like nothing more than RK to get us through this bad spell and out the other side. Colbeck, Fulop, Kennedy, Townsend look good acquisitions and Smith and McAuley are fairly dependable

Keane's arguement could be that if they were willing to invest so heavily in getting him here in the first place, they haven't really followed it through on the purse strings with real financial clout

The next few games will shape Keane's future but I dread to think who Evans & Clegg (both non-football people really) will seek to employ as his successor if the axe does fall

One thing is for certain all blues fans deserve much more at the moment and even the most die-hard of us must feel anxious as to what the future brings

Wallingford_boy - your LORD was talking about all of us - you included !!!! All he cares about is money. Do you really think that he gives a hoot about Ipswich or any of our fans ?? You are so deluded.

whoppit added 13:23 - Oct 25
Actually, I think you are a Budgie Wallingford_boy !!! It annoys me more that a bloke I work with (a Budgie) has a Roy Keane poster on his wall at work. He is actually more popular with those ba$tards than he is with our own fans. That tells you all we need to know.

I fully agree that most of our fans no nothing about football, most don't even seem interested judging by the silence at FPR every other week!

Things are moving in the right direction and although we may not win the league, we WILL be in the play-offs, so lets judge him in the New Year, not October!!

Was nice to see Edwards carrying the ball out from defence and playing it to feet from Right-Back in the 2nd half against Forest; I'd like to see him given a run there - he's played plenty of games in that position for T&T. Just switching him over for Peters (who's looked a much better player in attacking areas than in defence this season anyway) might be a short-term solution if RK can't find a Right-Back...

...then again, I shouldn't be worrying about tactics and formations, because RK's told us fans not to because that's his job :^D

Keane has the lowest win percentage of any long term Ipswich manager since the 60s ,sums it up really .Get another loan in and shuffle the team again till something works Roy or try and manage your players to make them better individually and play as a team with direction and tactics . Not one player has improved under Keanes management with a number really struggling ,would anyone really pay £3.5 million for Leadbitter now ? Priskin,Martin ,Delaney get there value back ?
And Wallingford Boy if you think Keane got his comments about blaming everyone but himself right that would make it the only thing he has got right since he came here

Center Backs all the goals we give away are sloppy defending

If RK was to be given the boot who would you want to replace him ?

This to me is the biggest prob If, as looks likely, Mogga gets Boro job no obvious candidates.

Would we want Mogga anyway????????

Other managers with Champuionship experience who are unattached:-

Martin O'Neill, Phil Brown, Gary Megson. Any of those float your boat ??

3 losses in a row and people want to get rid of Keane. Unbeleivable.

He's a good manager, he's not had luck on his side this season at all with missing out on a few signings in pre-season and players picking up injuries yet we're still doing better than this time last year. It's still possible that we could win the league, it's only 13 games in.

Sick of moaners.
