Kiwomya Setting Up Friendlies
Kiwomya Setting Up Friendlies

Reserves boss Chris Kiwomya is hoping to set up some friendlies during November so as to avoid going a month without any fixtures. This week’s planned Totesport.com Football Combination East Division game against Luton was postponed last week because the Hatters are in FA Youth Cup action.

Kiwomya told the club site: "We are looking to play a friendly or two if possible. We're talking to some of the bigger clubs amongst others and hopefully something can be sorted out."

The Blues second string currently sit in fourth in the league table, having won only once this season. Their next scheduled fixture is against Southend at Portman Road on December 1st.

Shouldn't this kind of stuff be done earlier? Realise there's a gap in the calendar and fill them in August or whatever?

i can't understand why clubs outside the Premiership haven't formed a reserve league better than this competition. Surely those clubs in East Anglia and east Midlands etc would be interested in having real competition for their finge/youth players or is there a lot of apathy!

Can't be that difficult to arrange some reserve fixtures. Some Premier league teams have these problems. Even some behind closed door games would be helpful

This rerserve league is an utter joke anyway, look at the teams in it. Keane rants about the youngsters needing to push on, where are they getting the opportunity to do so? Yes, you can work hard and impress on the training ground, but where you really need to kick on is in a match siutation against decent opposition on a regular basis.

Such a shame. The old Combination gave the reserves a fighting chance, but the powers that be soon put pay to that. Now, we just play these Mickey Mouse games once in a blue moon and achieve sweet FA. It was great to see Spurs, Arsenal and WestHam here on a regular basis, instead of Barnet, Northampton, Colchester and similar cr*p. I'm all for moving forward, but the clown(s) who sanctioned this, need shooting.
