Town Amongst Clubs Linked With Manchester City Striker
Town Amongst Clubs Linked With Manchester City Striker
Thursday, 25th Nov 2010 10:16

Town are amongst a host of Championship clubs reported to be chasing the loan signing of Manchester City striker John Guidetti. Burnley are said to be the front-runners for the 18-year-old’s signature with the Blues, Cardiff, Leicester and Nottingham Forest also said to be interested.

Guidetti is a Swedish U21 international, who joined City from Brommapojkarna in 2008. Guidetti, who wears the number 60 shirt at Eastlands, made his first and so far only appearance for Roberto Mancini’s side in the 2-1 Carling Cup defeat to West Brom earlier in the season.

Football League clubs have until 5pm today to make any further emergency loan signings. After that they will have to wait until January to add to their squads.

Last week Town boss Roy Keane said the Blues weren’t actively targeting anyone, however, that may have changed with Tom Eastman picking up a groin injury at Hull and with the Blues having fallen to three successive defeats.

John Guidetti will not get into the side at present. We are inundated with amazing strikers at present, Scotland, Priskin, Wickham,Murray and Lavery about to break through. Giudetti isn't a typical "long ball" striker,he prefers to pass and do one-twos with midfielders.I cannot see how he would fit into our present squad.
I am starting to really look forward to the game against Norwich. I think they will be shocked with our new look tactics and the long ball WILL cause problems to their defence.

Another striker will do little if we continue to play 1 up top, other than annoy our strikers further.

We have 3 more than capable strikers at this level in Priskin, Scotland & Connor. They just need a run of games and some support rather than constant rotation and playing 1 up top until we are losing!

Norwich have a poor defence but the thing that worries a lot of ITFC fans is that they can score goals! Something that we are not really good at.
Time to play the boy wonder and priskin up top for the whole match!

Surco72 - total agreement.
This guy could definately add something to our attack, but I doubt we will end up signing him what with our board (unable to make signings)
Wickham and Priskin up front.
Have to say, I am a huge fan of Lavery's. The guy is a goalscoring machine and he does remind me of Kinkladze (head down, beats 3 defenders, shoots at goal). Don't think he is ready yet.
Video on the Swedish U21 is below (we won't sign him anyway but oh well!!)
Need to sign a bloody rightback........

Hasn't keane used the fact that we have too many youngsters as one of his many excuses, but then keeps bringing youngsters in on loan.
Although I'm sure there's nothing in the story, and secretly hes lining up a RB, and planning a strategy of using width with entertaining passing football.

couldn't stop laughing after your post!
Think Keane is secretly planning to make us the most boring team in the world- it would be a claim to fame....

We do not need to sign a striker or a rightback. We have extremely good players who are strikers and extremely good players who are rightbacks. 4 strikers and 3 rightbacks (i know Eastman is injured) is easily adequate cover for our needs. As for our long ball strategy, personally i believe it is far from boring.it is a war of attrition on the defence of the opposition.
I strongly believe that we will get a 0-0 or a 1-0 from Sundays game.

What striker would sign for us the way we play? He would be fed hopeless balls upfiled from the defence and goal and Burnely is a lot closer to manchester.hate the way we play.mayb that should be our new song (not "love the way u lie "but "hate the way we play" to the eminem tune)
Sorry RKeaneisGod, you are delusional.our team sucks this year, and keane signed these players. he has no tactical nohow and we need a rb urgently or else norwich will destroy us.
i predict 4-1 norwich

I said nothing about signing this player.Fallon is the kind of player we need. Fallon is a long ball striker whilst this guys likes to pass and run. This striker does not fit our necessary profile,Fallon does. Ideal signing.

Am I the only one who read the report and finds the irony of looking at a striker highly amusing after the comment.

"Last week Town boss Roy Keane said the Blues weren't actively targeting anyone, however, that may have changed with Tom Eastman picking up a groin injury at Hull and with the Blues having fallen to three successive defeats."

I know a striker will fix that problem

and I thought it was going to be Tevez or Santa Cruz, obviously it needs to be Lescott or Richards

I don't that we will sign him, especially as we have just signed Fallon.

"He wears the number 60 shirt at Eastlands". And there's me thinking that Prem clubs were supposed to have a maximum squad of 25 players
