Zuiverloon Could Stay Beyond a Month
Zuiverloon Could Stay Beyond a Month

New loan signing Gianni Zuiverloon says he could stay at Portman Road beyond his initial month. The 23-year-old West Brom right-back is initially with the Blues until January 4th.

Zuiverloon told the club site: "I played for the reserves against Aston Villa on Monday and then I was told Ipswich wanted me and I said yes straight away.

"I know about the club and the history and did some research as well so I'm aware Ipswich is a big club. I played here last season for West Brom so I know about the stadium as well.

"It's a great opportunity for me. A chance to play football every week and I'm really looking forward to being involved here. The loan is until January and then we will see what happens. You never know in football."

While the Blues and Plymouth have already agreed a fee if Rory Fallon impresses enough during his loan spell for his move to become a permanent deal, manager Roy Keane says the former Dutch U21 international is less likely to join Town full-time: “I think that one would be a harder one in terms of the potential money involved.

“I think he went to West Brom for £3.2 million and put it this way, I don’t think we’d pay that for a full-back. I don’t think we’d pay that for a striker at the moment.

“I spoke to the boy, he’s very positive, he knows he can come in and get some games and it might help him to get a move, not to us but to someone else in January.

“Players will use loans as an opportunity to help themselves, and I see no problem with that. If we can help him and he helps us, then we’ll all be happy.”

Zuiverloon, who has been handed the number 35 shirt, looks set to make his Town debut in the East Anglian derby at Carrow Road on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Blues are reported to be showing an interest in Bermudian striker Nahki Wells, who plays for Reggie Lambe’s former club the Dandy Town Hornets. Wells, 19, is currently on trial at Carlisle but Town and Hull City are also reported to be eyeing him.

He went to West Brom for £3.2M, but he hasn't played their for ages so what is he worth now? Lee Martin came to Ipswich for up to £2M (reported) but he is worth a fraction of that now, if anything at all. Hopefully Zuiverloon will do well at Ipswich and there will be a chance to sign him permanently. We badly need a decent right-back.

at £3.2m that a lot of dosh, but the sort we need to spend if we're to get out the Championship (in the right direction) - Fingers crossed O'dear is back for Sunday.

Loosing is not an option.
