Fallon Returns to Plymouth
Fallon Returns to Plymouth
Monday, 17th Jan 2011 08:50

Striker Rory Fallon’s loan spell has been cut short and he has returned to Plymouth Argyle. The New Zealander was due to remain with the Blues until January 22nd with terms regarding a permanent move provisionally agreed between the clubs.

However, according to Argyle, the 28-year-old is not in new manager Paul Jewell’s plans and his spell has been terminated a week early. The former Swansea man was an unused sub at Millwall on Saturday.

Fallon, who joined Town in late November, made four starts and two sub appearances for the Blues, scoring one goal.

That was a bit sudden. strange ! i thought he played well for us and was MUCH better that i expected. Alot of supporters were calling him a reserve league 1 player but he iisnt really. Plymouth were in the championship for years and he was a regular for them. This season he is in league 1 and wasnt getting games but maybe the manager had something to do with it .

To be expected with the new manager coming in......wants to sign his own players!

I am sure PJ is capable of attracting better players to PR - Div One players with a better scoring record for starters

I guess the good impression was someone wanting a new contract and club, but if you look at historic stats, not a goal machine , not what town need at this moment.

Expect the monies not being spent on fallon to be used against a new striker.... Jason Roberts maybe? Read on rumour site Jan Koller ... PJ knows we need someone who can find the onion bag!

good chances are this means that Jewell is not looking to play hoof ball which is where Fallon held his own being tall and reasonable in the air. However would like to say Rory you certainly do not deserve the flack you have had from your own fans, and may you go on to bigger and better things than a struggling league one team who do not appreciate you!

I think the focus has to be on permanent signings - loanees come and go - Colback, Townsend maybe O'Dea....

He did well in his short spell here but long term it's a bullett dodged.

He did ok in his 4 games but it was the right decision to let him go back to Plymouth. All the best for the future.

i'm not surprised a sthis an opportunity for PJ to bring in his own sort of player. He's going to have enough problems offloading players that (RK signed) he doesnt want in order to make room and balance the books! Fallon played well but he's not got a good scoring record so hope he finds a club that will appreciate his efforts.
i agree that he's unlikely to resign Colbeck or Townsend but as for current loanees he may well release Livermore but keep O'Dea

Agree re style of player - I would love him to take a look at Lambert or another Div One player who is scoring plenty of goals ... This is a great week to get to know the squad each players aspirations etc .. Also got to look at the Norris, mac saga - did I read also that Delaney may be off to Burnley ??

8ashblue had it confirmed O' Dea is here for rest of season. Hopefully he can grow under Jewell and show the potential he showed in first couple of games.

hmm jan koller... he's getting on a bit but still worth a shot... he'd be the peter crouch of the championship... still, there's probably nothing in the rumour...

Have looked into the Jan Koller rumours.
Can't see it happening,- seems very little depth to them.
Fallon did ok,- but he really was Keane's signing.
Could do with a high profile goalscoring machine.

Real shame, thought he could have stayed on loan, perhaps Jewell was only willing for a loan and Plymouth wanted some cash from a transfer.

Glad Rory has gone to be honest, with Scotland, Prisking, Wickham all vying ofr that frontman role, think Rory was keeping a permanent player out. Would much rather see Ronan Murrey occupying an un-used sub spot, than a Loan Signing

Feel kind of sad for Fallon. He was starting to settle and putting in some good work. A far better player than most fans seem to realise. Would like to wish him luck.
