On a day that saw England score an awesome victory on German soil, many of our Ipswich boys were also celebrating good results for their respective countries.

Matt Holland played the full 90 minutes for Ireland who beat the Dutch 1-0. The winner was scored on 68 minutes by Blackburn's out of favour winger Jason McAteer, 10 minutes after Matt's team mate Gary Kelly was given his second yellow card for a foul on Overmars. This win guarantees them a play off position at the very least, and hope that Portugal slip up who are 3 points behind in second place with a game in hand. The Portuguese have a superior goal difference after thrashing Andorra 7-1.

Amir Karic also played 90 minutes for Slovenia as they came out 2-1 winners over Russia. Our very own Graham Poll refereed that one, Acimovic scoring the winner from the spot on 90 minutes. The win was a significant one as Russia is leading the group, now with only one point between them. They both have 2 games remaining.

Hermann's Iceland won 3-1 at home against the Czech Republic. It was still 0-0 on 39 minutes, when Koller reportedly spat on our own Iceman, the Czech being sent off for unsporting behaviour. Also in the same group, Jim Magilton captained his side to a good 1-1 away draw in Denmark. Some bloke called Mulryne scored the goal. Northern Ireland are well off the pace in the group, but Iceland have an outside chance but have tough away games in Denmark and against Jim's Northern Ireland.
