Marshall Not Happy
Marshall Not Happy

Andy Marshall has said today that he was not happy with Matteo Sereni's transer.

When Andy signed his 4 year contract on a free transfer from Norwich City, he thought he would be fighting it out with Keith Branagan for the number one jersey.

An mystery injury to his back left Andy with no movement for a time, so forced George Burley's hand to find a replacement. In came Matteo Sereni for a club record fee and looks to be a fine keeper with a very distinctive style.

Despite this, Andy is determined not to be content in the reserves and will fight for a place in the first team: "I’m determined that there will be no negatives, that everything I think and do will be positive. I have to be ready for my chance when it comes, whether through injury or lack of form.

"Matteo is a great character and we get on well. I had watched him play before he arrived here and I have studied him closely since he joined us. He has opened my eyes to a few things.

"The main thing is to play football. I’m going to get my head down, work really hard, and see what happens in the next year."

Marshall has been in full training after his injury and hopes to play on Wednesday against Fulham at Portman Road.

With Ipswich having 3 top class keepers, Andy may have to wait a long time for his chance at the first team level, and may even have to fight to be second choice at the club.
