Murray Nets Twice As Reserves Beat Norwich
Tuesday, 1st Mar 2011 16:09

Striker Ronan Murray netted twice as Town’s reserves beat Norwich City 2-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Playford Road this afternoon.

The Republic of Ireland U19 international struck twice before the break with the Canaries pulling one back via a penalty in the second half.

Midfielders Jaime Peters and Luke Hyam were the only regular members of the current first team matchday squad in the side, Peters coming off 20 minutes from the end and Hyam at half-time.

...How many more blatant chances of a goal are going to be missed before we mix it up a bit..?????

reserve team, youth team, under 8's, back of the garden, whatever, this lad can score goals. He's worth a try, his finishing can't be as bad as we are suffering from from others can it?? He deserves a chance to show what he can do, he's scored regularly for the reserves over the past few games he can't do anything more.

Any defeat the scum suffer is a reason to celebrate in my eyes. 1st team, youth team, blow football...who cares?

Not only does Ronan appear to have a good eye for goal but, having come up through the ranks with Wickham, wouldnt it be good to see them link up in the first team. As other posters have said, there's no harm in trying.

Onlyone - but murray seems to be doing this nearly every week. How do you think wickham made his way into the first team?

COYB! I reckon as soon as we are safe (which we are not at the moment!) Ronan and others may get a look in.

Good enough is old enough-i'd like to see him and Priskin start with Wickham continuing to get used to men's football in midfield. They are different types of player- Murray is quick and moves like a goalscorer- takes those positions and runs those angles like a goal scorer. Priskin has classy touch and offers something else. Wickham will have had massive success throughout his youth team experiences by being bigger and stronger than his peers- he is now playing first team and those aspects of his game can be nullified by a decent centre-back. That is not to say there is nothing else to his game- he just needs to learn his trade- he will be very big and very strong in a few years and more than a handful for ANY centreback when he has learned how to use his physique etc- then he will be a centre forward- hopefully of the Drogba type. :-)

So Murray now, with Wickham and Priskin.

Wickham & Murray - the little and large show!

I understand what u are saying but be realistic there is a massive difference between reserves/youth football !
I remember RM getting a few run outs under Keane and he did pretty well , however he did get bullied off the ball alot , I have watched a few reserve games and he has missed quite a few chances himself in front of goal.
What we have to remember is that at least now we can talk about missed chances and the FACT the Strikers are getting into those positions is a big step forward.
It was not long ago that we complained the strikers did not get enough balls to create a chance!
Rome was not built in a day !

Like others have said he should be given a go in the 1st team i know he may not be ready for it full time yet and he wont be the 25 goal player yet, but could help him along the way.

he should be given a go, and i think he will be... but even if he played now, we are usually playing a 4-1-4-1... murry up on his own? he would get eaten up. prob another reason why hes not being played at this moment in time. i dont like the formation, id like a 4-4-2, then murry would be in with more of a shout.

once we have enough points to not go down and are settled in mid table then im sure he will get more minutes as other have said previously.
