Jewell Watches Derby-Doncaster
Jewell Watches Derby-Doncaster
Tuesday, 1st Mar 2011 21:39

Town boss Paul Jewell was spotted back at his former club Derby County this evening as the Rams lost 3-1 at home to Doncaster Rovers.

With new frontmen very much on his summer wish-list, Doncaster striker Billy Sharp will have caught the eye, scoring twice, as he did at Portman Road in the Blues’ 3-2 victory over Rovers in January.

Meanwhile, next Tuesday's home game against Reading is definitely still on after the Royals defeated Everton 1-0 in their FA Cup fifth round tie at Goodison Park.

If the game had ended in a draw, the replay would have been played next Tuesday, causing the postponement of Reading's visit to Portman Road.

Interesting if Evans was also there. Getting to see first hand who may be Jewell's top target in the summer perhaps?

billy sharp would be awesome. He has just turned 25 and scores for fun in this league. He is at just the right age for a step up to a bigger club like us. I think we will be looking to bring 2 strikers in with either scotland or priskin leaving

"Town owner Marcus Evans is also reported to have been at Pride Park."

ROFL - the footballing equivalent of not letting the missus go shopping with the credit cards by herself! I can't say I blame ME after Magic and Keano's spending sprees...

Funny how everyone wants Sharp yet when we played Donny at home everyone really laid into him...he did ask for it though!

Would be a great signing if we could pull it off over the summer. He's perhaps wasted at Doncaster.

He would be a good addition but my feeling is that we need 2 strikers as Priskin is a waste of time, will never score enough from the chances he gets.

Donny will probably want 3 mil for him and we should get him for 2.5. Worth the money I feel. Already suited to PJ's and Ipswich style of football. Happy days!!

i would love it if we signed Sharp... one of the top strikers in this divison imo

anything under £3m is a steal imo

Yes Billy Sharp would be very good for own.

Shame we wouldnt be the only ones after him in the summer though eh!

And with Clegg's record of negotiating for players , I think we can safely say we wont be getting Billy Sharp !!

sharp to get 20+ in a season, big risk, he failed big time at Sheff Utd

PS - loved the game on tv last night, everytime Cole went near the ball the crowd shouted SHOOT!

i think Sharp would be great BUT will we get him? will be plenty of champ teams after him and possibly the odd prem team. He is a prime age, coming to his peak and scoring a lot of goals at this level, will be a difficult ask but fingers crossed.

We don't want nugent! Sharp I can JUST about deal with. Blueboots - Magilton = Norris and McAuley. Beano = Leadbitter at £2.5 million and Priskin at nearly £2 million who has sadly been for the most part, a flop, and I don't rate Leadbitter very highly tbh.
