Fülöp Praise for Bullard Impact
Monday, 28th Mar 2011 09:19

Town keeper Márton Fülöp has praised the impact made by loan midfielder Jimmy Bullard since he arrived at Portman Road from Hull City in January. Fülöp is currently away with the Hungary squad ahead of Tuesday’s Euro 2012 qualifier in Holland.

The former Sunderland man said: "Jimmy Bullard's arrival was very good for our team, he has quickly become an important member of the side."

Fülöp says inconsistency has been the Blues' big problem this season: "We win, then we lose, then we win again - we're not very balanced.

“At the beginning of the season our goal was to win the promotion, which was a real target for us and we started very well.”

The 27-year-old says he hopes to return to the top flight at some stage of his career: "I think I will play in the Premier League again.

“In my opinion, I performed well the last time I was there and that is the place I would like to play again."

Fülöp, who signed from the Black Cats for £750,000 last summer, has another year remaining on his Town contract.

He'll have to play a damn sight better than he has been to get back there soon

So when exactly did Fulop "forget" to catch, and kick the ball, and command his 6 yrd area like all good GK's do who have grasped the "basics" of being a good GK ?

Agree, he's got no chance of playing on the Premier League on current form, he needs to command his box, come for crosses, & start kicking straight!! I'm of the opinion Jewell should look for a new GK, he's as much a culprit for inconsistancy as anyone!

Maybe he's also hoping that Jimmy signs for us this Summer. We can but hope.

Would have thought a more pressing concern would be playing in our team again, considering he has just been dropped, let alone the premier.

maybe Bullard can be our next Goalkeeper, or at least give Fullop some tips on how to kick a ball in a straight line?

Go get Supps back - I think the best young keeper we had at Ipswich for a long while - real shame he quit .... I do think Murphy has gt potential - agree with others that Jewell now has a good idea of who he wants for next season - Keeper is probably one - along with Right back , CB , LB , RM , CM , Striker ...Bring on preseason to Holland - cant wait

Keep, unless we got offered something decent (unlikely).

Fulop was a jammy bugger with that freekick that hit the bar against Cardiff. He was miles away from it and made a basic error. Lucky that didn't go in.

He is a very inconsistent goalkeeper for the money Keane spent.

I would not be sad to see him replaced in the summer.

MaySixth - How could he have been 'miles' away from it when he touched it onto the bar? Amazes me how much criticism he's been getting from some fans, kept us in numerous games this season. So his kicking is suspect.... fits in nicely with most of the outfield players then.

anyone in goal but Brian Murphy for me...the man should have stayed in Ireland..im sure he's good in that league!!

Nunny- How about Fulop learning to catch or punch a ball as well. He's cost us more points than he has saved us this season.Very inconsistant and his best hope of being in The Premier league is as a bench warmer when hopefully he's sold in the summer.

plain ans simple, fulop has made us some errors but all goalkeepers makes mistakes, fulop is a great goalkeeper and we got him on the cheap, if our defenders were more aggressive den fulop wouldn't be nervous all the time knowing he has a solid defence in front of him and will give him confidence.. i wouold be sad to see him go.... MY OPINION...(DERMO FROM GALWAY IRELAND)

I think we should go after the Peterborough GK...has been touted by several Prem clubs in the past. Granted he's ex scum (but what would they know , they let him go !!)

We have x3 good keepers and a x2 good young prospects in Cropper and MacLaughlin, we dont need any further keepers.

ThatMuhrenCross- I think it is you who is cracked up ,Player of the season, you really have either lost the plot completley or only go to the odd match and have not seen him mess up bigtime.

It seems to me that Fulop plays better away from home - the games on Sky seem to point this way. Is it because he is kept busier away from home or that he is conscious of "criticism" at home?
