Eight Town players could win international caps later today. Centre-half Gareth McAuley will be skippering Northern Ireland for the first time, while loan defender Darren O’Dea has been confirmed as a starter for the Republic of Ireland.

McAuley’s Northern Irishmen take on Slovenia in a Euro 2012 qualifier at Windsor Park (Sky Sports One/HD1 7.30pm), while O’Dea’s Republic of Ireland face Uruguay in a friendly in Dublin (Sky Sports Two/HD2 7.30pm).

Town defender Damien Delaney was added to the Republic squad yesterday but has not been named in the starting line-up.

McAuley has previously won 27 full Northern Ireland caps, scoring his second goal in the 2-1 defeat to Serbia last Friday, while O’Dea has five Republic of Ireland caps and Delaney two.

Keeper Márton Fülöp and striker Tamás Priskin, who joined Swansea on loan last week, will hope to play a role as Hungary take on Holland in Amsterdam in a Euro 2012 qualifier having lost 4-0 to the same opposition last Friday.

Jaime Peters is with the Canada squad for a friendly against Belarus in Antalya, Turkey. The 23-year-old has previously won 24 senior caps and started their recent 1-0 defeat to Greece at right-back.

Defender Troy Brown has been named in the Wales U21 side for their opening European Championships qualifier in Andorra.

Brown, who is amongst the legion of players out of contract in the summer, has previously won two caps at U21 level.

Academy keeper Cody Cropper and the US now start their CONCACAF U20 World Cup qualifying tournament campaign in Guatemala this evening with a game against Surinam, not yesterday as initially reported.

The American youngsters subsequently take on Panama on Saturday in their other game in the tournament's group phase.
