Murphy in Reserves
Murphy in Reserves
Tuesday, 29th Mar 2011 12:35

Keeper Brian Murphy has been named in the reserves side for this afternoon’s game against Watford at Portman Road (KO 2pm). The Irishman is continuing his comeback after his broken ankle.

Boss Paul Jewell says it’s an opportunity for him to watch the ex-Bohemians man in action: "It will be another chance to look at Brian.

"We have seen very little of him because of his injury so we will see how he gets on but I do know he's a terrific lad."

Midfielders Luciano Civelli, Luke Hyam, Shane O'Connor and Conor Hourihane are also involved against the Hornets, who the Town second string beat 3-1 last week.

I hope Murphy comes through unscathed and performs well and that goes for Luke Hyam and Luciono Civelli - especially as they are on song just now and Jewell will be watching!

i can see Murphy starting saturday if he has a good game....... reading between the lines above. hope Shane has a good game today and proves why he needs to be played. Poor old JP could do with a game though, never gets brought of the bench yet not played in reserves, lets hope he gets a start saturday

And let us not forget Shane O"Connor who I really hope gets a look in at first team level again soon. He was a revelation under Keane and deserves to be given another chance soon.

I agree that both Jamie Peters and Shane O'Connor deserve to get a chance in the first team between now and the end of the season. At the same time I'd like to see both Hyam and Civelli given the chance to play from the start in a first team game to see what they can do to demonstrate that they should be in PJ's plans for next season.

I hate to predict things with any certainty but I'm really hoping that we should be able to get enough points to avoid relegation and so now it's a chance to experiment with players prior to next season to see where they can fit into PJ's team.

With respect to Jamie Peters and today's reserve game I think that he's away with Canada.

I like Murphy - one of Roy's better signings. Can certainly see him start against Palace if not this weekend.
