Quinn Admits Town Exit Likely
Quinn Admits Town Exit Likely

Forgotten midfielder Alan Quinn has admitted that it’s unlikely that he’ll be offered a new contract by the Blues when his current terms are up this summer. The 31-year-old has missed the entire season having picked up a groin injury, which eventually required two operations, during the pre-season friendly at Leiston.

Quinn, who joined the Blues from Sheffield United for £400,000 in January 2008, says manager Paul Jewell is unlikely to extend his Portman Road stay having seen very little of him since he came to the club: "It has been difficult for the gaffer because he hasn't had a chance to see me play since he came in, so I doubt they will offer me a new contract. I'm not confident about getting any good news from them on that front.

"I'm just hoping to get a game or two in before the end of the season and see what happens in terms of Ipswich offering me something."

The former Ireland international, whose only game this season was 45 minutes of a reserves friendly in November in between his two operations, is hoping for some match action before the end of the season.

He said: "This injury has been the first in my career that has kept me out for so long, so it has been a frustrating time, but hopefully I'm over the worst now and I can concentrate on getting back playing again.

"I'm hoping to be playing for another few years yet, whether it be Championship or even dropping down to League One because I just want to be enjoying my football again.”

He's a good little footballer really. Hopefully he is given the chance to shine between now and the end of the season.

I agree Muhren. I actually think he is a really decent player at this level. Not a world beater by any stretch, but to be fair we don't have any of those, but a really solid decent player to have in and around the team. I hope he gets another year.

Decent player but worth risking another year when he has had such a big layoff?

Time to let him go.....have noticed a trend on the website, people want to keep, McAuley, Delany, Norris, Quinn, some of the youngsters......they have not exactly got us anywhere so why keep them......being "godd to have aorund the team" is not what I want to see our wage structure built upon.

Poor bloke, echo previous comments good player, I remember him having a little spell on the lefthand side and he could whip a ball in!

Always quite rated Quinn, defo worse players in the squad if you ask me. Still remember his across field pass to Walters feet for him to score our 3rd at QPR a couple of seasons back. Hopefully he will get a contract somewhere else in this league.

I'd let him go to be honest, not a bad player & far worse than him that need to be shot of, but we need to start attracting Premier League quality that can get us promoted & keep us there! Best of luck Quinny.

He scored against Nobitch at PR a few seasons ago so he's a hero in my eyes. Good luck to him if he moves on. I'm sure he can still do a job at Championship level.

I'd give a contract he's not a high earner always gives 110% and is exceptionally versatile

There are worse players in the squad but that's not saying much is it?...time to move on Alan.

Ipswich have coped without him this season and cant see what extra he will bring to the team, Far worse at the club, Druray is possible better but not seen too much of him yet. will free up some wages

Feel he has been unlucky

if he does stay , I suspect the local bookies will be throwing a party for him, since he apparently spends most of his time sat in one !

Not a bad player, but had the tendency to chase the ball, even if it let spaces that he left to be attacked.

Has he got enough time left this season to shine [ or even get in the squad ] ?
What about a pay per play contract if he does manage to get back into the team ?

A decent player - but after a year of injuries and with PJ no doubt wanting to bring his own players in, it seems likely Quinn will leave. Probably along with Pablo, Lisbie, Norris and Civelli.

Agree that he's a solid little player at this level and will always be remembered for his goal against the scum. However, not sure its worth offering him another year - would rather see him getting regular games at a League One side now

A pay per play contract to give PJ a chance to look him over seems sensible.

We need to get rid we want a small squad of two players per position tight knit squad not huge squad of players not playing football.
