Player of the Year Voting Open
Player of the Year Voting Open
Tuesday, 26th Apr 2011 12:58

Online voting has opened for this season’s Supporters’ Club Player of the Year award. The winner will be handed his gong at the annual Players’ Awards Evening on Saturday at Greshams Sports and Social Club (6.30pm to midnight).

You can register your vote here or alternatively around the ground at Saturday’s game against Preston North End. Online voting closes on Friday.

Tickets costing £17 (including buffet) are still available for the Awards Evening from Liz Edwards by email here. The dress code is smart casual.

The event is a chance to meet the first team squad and coaching staff and see presentations to the Player of the Year, the season’s debutants and the Academy Player of the Year.

Last year's Player of the Year award went to Gareth McAuley with his central defensive partner Damien Delaney second and loan midfielder Jack Colback third. The Sunderland man picked up the Players' Player of the Year, while Tom Eastman won the Dale Roberts Trophy for the Academy Player of the Year.

perhaps they should call it the 'least worst award'

So difficult to pick. So many poor showings. But, maybe one from Delaney, Wickham or Bullard. Surely no other candidate? Healy as an outside bet?

Bullard in his short spell has done more than most for me ,with Mac pushing hard apart from the last few games !

McAuley for me! Bullard was still only a part of the season in. Wickham was also out in the beginning. I would say McAuley was the most consistent player during this poor season.

Bullard for me. He has done more in his few games than the rest combined over the season !!

This event should be cancelled. Whoever wins it is only doing so because the rest are so cr*p.

Hmmm.

Either Bullard, McAuley or Wickham.

I went for Macca.

Good though Bullard has been, I don't think a player who hasn't been here for 2/3 of the season can be called player of the season. The clue is in the title. It's about doing it for the whole season. Players like Bullard, Wickham, Carson and Martin have all had ouststanding games, but have they done it from August all the way through to now? No!
There should only be three contenders for this, three players who have performed over the whole season. They are Delaney, McAuley and Norris. Ok, they may have had one or two dodgy games, but if anyone else wins it, it makes a mockery of the whole thing.

I can't bring myself to vote for Bullard. He's only been here a couple of months. Player of the last 3 months yes. Player of the season, probably, but not for I went for a controversial shout of Edwards. Turned out to be a tidy full back

Bullard no doubt. Might give some players a kick up the arse if they see a loan player win it.

Manic Blue - after performances this season the whole thing is already a mockery !!

Can we not choose to vote for the fans? I think we have been the most consistent bodies at portman road this season, and unlike most players, have turned up every week!

GMac for me.... not many other options.
Shame Wickham never had a full season
Edwards at times (not RB)
That's about it...!

Got to be Jamie Peters. Done nothing wrong for months!

King of Portman Road, you can't vote for Bullard who has been playing here for 3 months, but you vote for Edwards based on his performances at full back, where he's been playing for only the last 3 months (in fact the same time that Bullard has been at the club).

Wickham only missed 2 months at the start of the season, but G-Mac has been the stand out, surely no coincidence our run of defeats came when he was injured?

Should be called off out of respect for the fans who have had to put up with the same old crap this season!
The start of PJ's full term in charge cannot come quick enough... There are so many changes needed and there really is only one man that can impact on what is needed - MARCUS EVANS, sorry chap, but time to rattle the change from your piggy bank once again!
At least £20,000,000! Jesus that is some bunce when written down eah! BUT I genuinely believe that is what it will take to get this floundering team up there to play with the big boys! I've bought our season tickets again and wait with much anticipation now from what cards ME plays...

I think everyone should vote for Kieron Dyer as a protest vote.
That might make a decent statement when the results are read out.

Looks like Bullard is winning at a canter! After reading some of the comments on here, I have to agree that although our best performer, I can't really vote Bullard based on just three months. Have gone for McAuley.
