Jewell Set to Meet Player
Jewell Set to Meet Player
Thursday, 26th May 2011 16:33

Town boss Paul Jewell has revealed that he will meet with a prospective signing in the morning. The Blues manager is at today’s Marina Dalglish Appeal Golf Day at Royal Lytham back in his native North-West.

Jewell was one of a number of Championship bosses at the event all in a similar position: “We’re all having a game of golf today and when we get off the golf course there will be 20 missed calls as we’re all trying to do deals.

“Straight after this I’m driving down to Ipswich to meet a player in the morning, so it never stops.

“We’re all looking for players, probably all looking for the same players, to be honest. A manager’s job never stops just because the football stops.”

Elsewhere, former Blue Liam Trotter, who joined Millwall after rejecting a new contract with Town last summer, is reportedly interesting Wigan, Norwich and Nottingham Forest.

Trotter's impressive performances for the Lions this season saw him sign an extended contract until 2014 in January.

Calm down everyone. He's only meeting a player. We all know that even though players have met managers and are happy to sign it then goes to SC and the agents. Thats when we've lost out in the past. There's along way to go before anyone is signed. I reckon it will be July before the first signing.

Before anyone else says: Clegg better not f*ck this one up as well. Yawn.

Trotter in the premier league? Please don't make me laugh so hard, it hurts.

It sounds like we are about to sign somebody, unless i have misjudged PJ. He wouldn't normally say anything until its a done deal, i hope this is not just to appease the fans

Sounds posititve. Not going to get carried away though its probably a player who is meeting a number of other clubs too.

I hope it's to sort out the Dyer deal.

If it's true about Liam Trotter then good for him, I was dissapointed when he left and he did very well for Millwall (a team that finished above Town), hope it's not Norwich though!!
