Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill has dismissed weekend reports claiming his club had had a bid accepted for Town target Jay Emmanuel-Thomas. Burnley sources are also playing down suggestions that the Clarets have had an offer accepted for the Arsenal youngster, which would appear to leave the way clear for the Blues to complete the signing the 20-year-old.

Cotterill said: “We haven’t put in a bid for him. There is absolutely no truth in that whatsoever. He’s not a player who has been on our radar at all this year.

“I have no idea where that has come from. Maybe he is going somewhere else and the agent is trying to drum up interest. But there is no interest from us.”

One of this morning’s tabloids claims the Blues have agreed to pay Arsenal £1.1 million for the striker or wideman rather than the £1 million previously understood to be the fee.

On Friday, Town manager Paul Jewell said he hoped to sign two players by Monday. In addition to the permanent acquisition of Emmanuel-Thomas, keeper David Stockdale is set to complete a season-long loan switch from Fulham.

Elsewhere, Southend sources say the Shrimpers are yet to receive a bid for defensive midfielder Anthony Grant, linked with the Blues and a number of other clubs yesterday. Town enquired about the former Chelsea youngster earlier in the year.

What makes you think from that story that it wont be completed today?

If anything im more confident than at any point over weekend that both these deals will be wrapped up today, Burnley and Pompey seem to be out of the race for JET and leeds are signing lonergan, meaning they are out of the hunt for stockdale..

I reckon PJ might have some news for us this afternoon! :-)

£1.1M, £1M, what's the difference? At that price could prove to be a very shrewd piece of business for what is still very much a raw talent. More worried about Stockdale, though, and having an on loan keeper who can be recalled at a moment's notice

defo would be good business ...but I always worry about getting my hopes up, we'll probably find out we're signing Ched Evans instead :-( lol

JET could prove to be better than wickham

Only seen him play in the cardiff away game last season. JET on the left wing for cardiff, Wickham on the left for us. Of the two JET looked much more threatening.
If Stockdale didn't have a release clause he'd be going to Swansea instead.

Cornishnick, the difference is £100,000.

Agree with sentiments about Stockdale, although he would be a good addition and bring competiton to Fulop and ALB, a release clause is a real concern, hopefully it won't be at a moments notice.

Might not be either of these,
Maynard hasn't figured for Bristol City yet so could it be him???
Don't think the two signings are as straight forward as most think on here.

Just seen JET walking along the waterfront in Ipswich at 11.30 this morning.
He was picked up By Simon Milton in his grey Audi car and driven away in the direction of PR.

When we sign Stockdale will PJ sell Fulop ? has he got a buyer for him already? then bring in Richard Wright as back up goal keeper?
I think JET sounds like a real good buy, a winger/ striker with plenty of pace so we could change formation mid game from 442 to 451or even 433. He also has the hight we need in the side for corners etc. Just a c/half and another central midfield player needed

Hopefully we'll get him! Already showing on wiki that he's our player (not that wiki is always a complete source of accurate info based on the type of site it is)
Will be a good player for us if it does happen, skillful as per the youtube clip.

Like most on here I am sick of all the linked players recently. There must have been about 30 who were coming at one point or another.

If we do sign JET, then this will be a brilliant piece of business for Town. Sell Wickham for 10+million, sign JET for 1.1 million = bargain of the year!!

He is big, fast and skillful and he will cause all kinds of problems this season.

Now just get the deal done!

If reports are right, he's rejected Burnley, Portsmouth not interested so it's looking like he's ours.

I can't see why you all want the lazy sod. Blackpool had him and didn't want him back, Doncaster had him and didn't want him back then Cardiff had him and didn't want him back. I didn't think Portsmouth and Burnley would be after him. I hope for your sake he only signs a short term contract so you can get rid when it is seen what a lack of effort he puts into a game.
Surely your management smelt a rat when nobody else wanted him.

Good luck with this one.

He will give the odd class moment but for most of the game he will not bother. If the ball is passed to him don't expect him to run after it if it is not to his feet.
