Owner Evans at Portman Road
Owner Evans at Portman Road

Town owner Marcus Evans was spotted at both Portman Road and at the Blues’ Playford Road training ground earlier today. Evans will probably have been meeting with chief executive Simon Clegg and manager Paul Jewell as the club looks to make more signings ahead of the closure of the transfer window next Wednesday.

Evans, unlikely to have been impressed with the Blues’ recent results, is very much hands-on in Town’s transfer business, which Clegg has described as a “three-person approach”.

The Blues are close to completing the addition of free agent Ibrahima Sonko, while Town’s attempt to sign former loanee Jimmy Bullard on a permanent basis is also likely to have been high on the agenda.

TWTD understands that the Blues, QPR and Portsmouth are the main contenders for the midfielder’s signature in the wake of his contract at Hull being terminated with Town very much in with a chance of bringing last season’s Player of the Year back to Portman Road.

Yesterday, Town boss Jewell revealed that an offer had been made to a Premier League club regarding a central defender but no news is likely on that front until the manager’s pre-match press conference on Thursday morning.

Hang on, is this piece saying that we're in a three way fight with QPR & P/mouth? If so we should beat QPR who are close to getting BArton, and we can give P/mouth Leaditter when we get Bullard?

Dont tell the tax man - he was probably looking at how our defensive coaching staff are doing - Businessman or not even he must have felt 5-2 and 7-1 does not add up to good business for him ?? or does it ???

I am sorry Phil or whoever wrote this article, but the following line 'Evans, unlikely to have been impressed with the Blues' recent results' is just absurd!! Love this site, but honestly, if ME is happy with 7 defeats in 9; conceeding 5 twice, 4 twice and 7 once, then we may as well all give up!

ME needs to act now. And it would seem he is doing it - we need to spend money on this squad - not keep relying on has been freebies - who are injury prone. He also needs to decide whether Clegg and PJ are up to the task and if not - act.

Although I was disappointed with PJ's appointment and also with his style of play and recent results since then - it is unlikely ME will sack him - but perhaps he needs to consider appointing a football man as a CEO? Just two fees agreed all Summer. Shocking.

Good to hear especially if he's there to sort transfers. Good luck PJ in getting him to agree Jimmys wages!

Absolutely gutted as I am after what's gone on this week, it is does not come close to the rage I still feel about the near distruction of our club wrought by the unspeakable Keane, in his nearly two years in charge.

PJ will turn us around given both time and the levels of cash to spend that Keane had wasted so dreadfully.

So this 'man' has now appeared in Ipswich twice today, and several times in last few weeks, and STILL no-one has thought to take a photograph of him? Just like the previous few decades? Not plausible (unless he is a vampire who cannot be captured on film ...).
He does not exist. No-one can escape the camera in this day and age unless they are total reclusive, which 'he' is not.

Perhaps he thought he was at a 'help the aged' event

Daleyitfc - i do know, because i went on tour of the ground when i sponsored game last season with Simon Milton, a guy walked past and went into Boardroom & and i asked if it was Evans.

He confirmed it was. It was the same guy photographed at the Palace game next to Edgar Davids. Given these facts this same guy was outside a box in the Britannia (under Barnes Construction sign) for last two home league games.

Botesdale blue - calm down dear. This current predicament has more to do with PJ than it does RK

Anybody thought that the reason why he doesnt want his photo taken is because he has a face like a badly loaded skip?

Would rather he be like he is than the chicken packers at Blackburn, that Ashby with the Geordies and the porn kings at Wsham.
