No Further Blackpool Bid on Quiet Last Day
No Further Blackpool Bid on Quiet Last Day

Blackpool’s anticipated further attempts to sign Town striker Jason Scotland don’t appear to have materialised and no further moves in or out are expected before the transfer window closes at 11pm this evening. Yesterday, TWTD revealed that the Blues had turned down a £350,000 offer from the Tangerines for the Trinidad and Tobago international.

The Seasiders instead turned their attention to Sheffield United frontman Daniel Bogdanovic, who has completed a move to Bloomfield Road this evening and will presumably make his debut for his new club when Town visit Lancashire a week on Saturday.

Even if the Blues had agreed a fee with Blackpool, Scotland has said he very much wants to remain with Town to fight for a starting role in Paul Jewell's side: “I’ve worked very hard in pre-season, and I don’t want to leave here. I love this place, the club and the people.”

The 32-year-old is currently back in the Caribbean having been invited to be a guest at Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Bermuda in Port of Spain along with the rest of the Trinidad and Tobago squad which played in the 2006 finals in Germany.

Coventry and Birmingham watched Scotland in action during the 2-1 victory over Leeds on Saturday, while Middlesbrough have also been linked.

The final day of the transfer window has passed unusually quietly at Portman Road with Jamie Griffiths’s one-month loan move to Plymouth the only completed business.

Town, who have already signed 11 players this summer, will now look at utilising the loan provision open to them in a week’s time with Stoke’s Wales international defender Danny Collins one of the three players manager Paul Jewell is hoping to add to his squad.

Elsewhere, Leeds defender Aidy White has lost his appeal against the red card he received during his side’s defeat to the Blues at the weekend.

Looks like we have Mr Leadbitter for the duration then. Another player whose contract will run down considerably in value terms even if he goes in January. Hope he now bucks up as he has been very disappointing of late - thats if he gets a game.

Pathetic. We are being taken for mugs - only last week PJ said he wanted four new players, then at the start of the week three. Then it was down to two loanees. Now no-one!! This club is a sham. Bullard and Chopra apart it's been a poor Summer for signings. Essentially we have only been able to attract loanees and frees all Summer. Clegg has managed to negotiate ONE fee (JET - he was on holiday for Chopra and failed to agree a fee for Cresswell). It's abysmal! Relegation fight here we come.

P.s. we already have THREE loanees. More than enough for just one team. If we sign a couple more, that's half a team of loans - Norwich were relegated for that. What about building for the future? Lots of oldies and loans. Back to square one next Summer. It's a JOKE.

Good.

I have known a lot of Trinidadians and they have not necessarily been too serious, but this Scotland HAS something and may be coming into his best years.

I'd like to see Phil Collins at portman road, at least the half time entertainment would be worth bothering with

i think scotland still has something to offer, which he proved on saturday. he needs to get the right service though, none of this up front on his own pumping high balls to him( which is the way he has been expected to play in a lot of his outings) someones got to go though, agree with alanmahon2011, lets get rid of priskin.

More talk as usual - no end result - as desperate as we are for a RB and another CB.

You can certainly talk Mr Jewell - just beware you will eventually get found out by more and more supporters, along with your senior people.

Disappointed that we are still playing square pegs in round holes in certain positions - and this is blatantly NOT being addressed.

I know, lets blame RK - no doubt some sad person/s will - forever more, and beyond !!

What is Jason Scotland doing in Trinidad if we're going to try and sell him? What is he doing there if we're trying to get him fit?

Looks like more loans. Is this the way we want to do thigs, PJ?

Yes, Jewell has spent only £3M on fees but let's not forget the signing-on fees and wages shelled out on 11 new signings!

We should not be too unhappy...We have brought in a current England squad goalkeeper in Stockwell, a promising young left-back in Cresswell, a strong centre back in Sonko, an excellent player who can control midfield, take set pieces and influence the team in Bullard, goal-a-game midfielder Andrews, an attacker strong in the air in Murphy, the exciting young Emmaunel-Thomas and one of the Championship's best strikers in Chopra. Bowyer and Ellington I am less sure about, but time will tell.

Come on you blues!

Dear Simon Clegg, please sell Tamas "1-goal-wonder" Priskin as he is wasting our wage budget.

Thank You

To be honest I am fairly happy with the signings that jewell has brought in this summer. However, I think it is still blindingly obvious that this club is in need of a right back and another centre back! I personally would like to see someone like Javan Vidal to join the club after his release from Manchester city!

All you people who slate Priskin, what a disgrace. His talent is miles better than some of you guys say. He IS an Ipswich player, regardless. I have never herd so many people moaning! Who's next? Peters?? Because he hasnt played for whatever reason. Call yourselfs supporters, take a hard look in the mirror!

Can't believe the flouncing that goes on! Jas and Pip what is your problem? We have signed a number of very good players this summer and, despite a couple of shocking results, we should have more optimism this season than we have for a while. It is also likely that we will get Prem players on loan.

As for the Wickham money - I bet you want to spend all your Christmas money on Boxing Day. We didn't spend much pre-1999-2000. In the January window we bought Stewie...................

@blues1971 Ok pal let's keep him, playing for the reserves, never making the bench and continuesly paying him good wages that we may need in the long run for other decent players...

Thought that one through ain't ya...

blues1971 - Priskin has talent - what he needs is SERVICE, be able to play with the RIGHT PARTNER up front, and a GOOD MANAGER to get the best from him.

Can't really say he's had any of the above since he's been here - and he's not alone !!

casanovacrow added 20:27 - Aug 31
You need to consider Scotland is on vastly more wages than Priskin and if Priskin does come into any form his value would be greater due to his younger age.
Not that I see the point of talking about either, nothing happening
