Jewell Tight-Lipped on Collins
Jewell Tight-Lipped on Collins

Blues boss Paul Jewell is remaining tight-lipped on whether Stoke defender Danny Collins will be joining Town on loan. The 31-year-old was left out of the Potters’ 25-man Premier League squad on Friday and has been made available for loan.

Jewell said: “It’s not really my remit to talk about other players. He’s a good player and we did enquire after him, but as I have said on numerous occasions, we have made lots of enquiries.

“We are considering lots of options and I don’t think it is wise for me to talk about other players because if I ring Tony Pulis up, he might get the needle that I spoke about one of his players and if I wanted to do [a deal], he might not.”

Football League clubs are able to bring players in on loans of up to 93 days from Thursday.

Meanwhile, staff at Planet Blue have revealed that they came close to running out of Ls and the number one for the back of replica shirts in the days after Jimmy Bullard's return.

I hope so too tjhs!

probably for the best that we didn't sign Adam Lallana or Lomana Lua Lua on transfer deadline day, the poor staff in planet blue wouldn't have known what'd hit em!

No more loans thanks. LEARN from Norwich and Sheffield Utd when both were relegated relying on loans. Permanent signings should have been secured, but the club failed. PJ wanted three before the closure of the window - we managed none.

Jas- what you mean like when Norwich loaned Henry Lansbury who was key in them getting promoted? Or to a much larger degree Blackpool who had various loans such as DJ Campbell for one and it got them promoted. Ok you don't agree with the loan system, but take away our current loanee's and stick with what we have got and we would be Father Rucked! Ideally we would have signed more centre halves permanently but it would seem that the Market isn't exactly over flowing with them at the moment, it makes sense to wait and see who is surplus at prem teams and loan them until jan with a view to a permanent deal then.

I'm guessing if the goes ahead it wont be for a few weeks anyway as we can only sign for an initial 93 days so if we sign him towards the end of the month he'll still be available for the hectic xmas schedule the can extend load or sign perm on the 1st of Jan?

Yesterday's green un headline "jewell targets more cressies for pace and energy" todays headline "jewell remaining calm on Collins" a big difference between the two... one is young and has a lot to look forward to, one is old and nearly ready for a care home...

don't worry hollywoodgine jas likes a good moan even if there is nothing to moan about he will pick at something to moan at don't you worry.

Daniel christ sake how is 31 old as a player i do hate this anti age thing that so many have on here you don't really know he could be still playing for another 6 to 7 years to come yet just because a player has past 30 doesn't mean he has past it does it now.

Really wish ITFC fans would lose the anti age thing

Much as I hate to agree with Hollywoodginge, I think he is right, loan players have been key successes at clubs that have got promoted in the past. Collins has proven ability and always gives 100%, good players will always do the business whether they are on loan or permanent signings (previous examples here include Jimmy Bullard, Martijn Reuser and Andrews nStockdale doing it at the moment!)
