Bowyer Will Get Better With Games
Bowyer Will Get Better With Games
Monday, 19th Sep 2011 09:31

Midfielder Lee Bowyer says that now he’s over his hamstring problem his performances will improve with every game. The 34-year-old returned to the side at Blackpool last week but still looked short on fitness and form as the Blues lost 2-0 to the Seasiders.

Bowyer says he will get better the more he plays: "I still think I've got a lot to show, if I'm honest. With the more games I play the better I feel my performances will become with time.

"Now I'm back fully fit and with another week's training under my belt I feel I can push on now and help the team progress."

The Londoner says the injury was something he had suffered with while at Birmingham but thought he was over: "It was probably my own fault really. I did it at the end of last season and I never strengthened it throughout the summer.

“I just thought it would be OK, but then obviously it got a bit tired and I ended up pulling it again at Southampton.”

The one-time England man says the Championship is a very competitive league with little between most of the clubs: "It's a tough division and anyone can beat anyone on their day.

“Everybody in this league works so hard and there are a whole host of teams that could get into that top three and we need to make sure we are one of those teams come the end of the season."

At least the headline isn't
"Bowyer will get worse with Games"
then again, thats probably the truth

He'll get better I'm sure. Even now he's not worse than 2M waste of money so called skipper Norris who gave us nothing during his time here.

He'll probably put his back out bringing all that steel in for our midfield.

He will come good. Birminghams best player last season, get off his back you morons, who do you support?

Give the guy some belief. Not everybody has to be lying each time they open their mouths. He will come good once fully fit, as blueblood66 says, Birminghams best player last season. Please, have a little patience.

Is he still with us? I thought he'd moved on...

"I did it at the end of last season and I never strengthened it throughout the summer." Oy.

Disappointing so far, but Bowyer was a Premier League (and Carling Cup winner!) regular last season so he should be able to play well at Championship level a year later. I just wonder how he can fit into the side now we have Andrews, Bullard and Leadbitter also wanting to play in central midfield. Perhaps we signed Bowyer when we didn't think we'd get Bullard?!

arc. I fear blueblood missed that part of the quote.

i.e. I could not be botherd to get fit.

'That's the spirit, George. If nothing else works, then a
total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face
will see us through'

Can't understand the criticism of Bowyer. At Bristol he was excellent and in two of the home games he was clattered which hampered his performances. Both challeages were bookable offences but of course nothing was done. Bowyer was one of Birminghams best players last season and their supporters did not want him to go so give the bloke a chance.

O.k so he has'nt set the league alight as yet but then who in our side apart from cresswell and andrews has, tonight is a real test and if the team can get a win and the confidence from it we should soon be competeing in the top half of the table but once again the same section of supporters show their true colours and get behind our man,on his back. Why do you call yourselves supporters cos you aint.

Anyone noticed the comparison of Ipswich and Arsenal this season? Good players leave, panic buys and too many changes damaged the team spirit. Both teams need time and neither have it.

No I think he's going to be fine. Let's hope he's able to play the way he wants to and doesn't have to spend all day squaring it to Jimmy Bullard. Way better than that.

What is wrong with the moaners on here?
Do you honestly think that the players we have lost were better than the ones brought in?

buryblue77 added 13:27 - Sep 20
Yep, same old boring stuff from the negstive ones, give the guy a chance he's been a premier league top class midfielder for many years and ok maybe he didn't quite go on to achieve his full potential compared to what he showed in his earlier years at Charlton and Leeds but he's quality and will still be for another couple of years yet!!
COYB!!!
