Boro Again Linked With Scotland, Town With Austrian Defender
Boro Again Linked With Scotland, Town With Austrian Defender
Wednesday, 21st Sep 2011 00:12

Saturday’s opponents Middlesbrough are again being linked with a move for Town striker Jason Scotland. Meanwhile, the Blues, Watford and Nottingham Forest have been mentioned in connection with former Rapid Vienna defender Andreas Dober.

Boro, who are managed by ex-Blue Tony Mowbray, were previously linked with Scotland just before the transfer window closed.

Now, the Teessiders are said to be ready to make a move for the 32-year-old Trinidadian, initially on loan but with a view to a permanent deal, with Mowbray’s assistant and one-time Town central defensive partner Mark Venus having watched the Blues’ 3-0 victory over Coventry.

The Blues are reported to want a fee ultimately totalling £750,000 for Scotland, which seems unlikely with a figure of £250,000 understood to have been agreed with Blackpool before the player turned down the switch to Bloomfield Road late last month.

Austrian international Dober, 25, is a right-back or centre-half, who is currently a free agent having left Rapid Vienna in the summer.

The six-foot tall defender, who has been capped three times by his country, including his debut against England in 2005, came through the youth system at his hometown club, spending time on loan at Rheindorf Altach before breaking into the Rapid first team.

As Dober is out of contract, he could be signed on a permanent basis outside the transfer window.

Hope Jason stays. Surely if he is getting regular starts he won't want to leave now.

Him and Chopra could form a really good partnership.

Why did we agree such a low price with Blackpool?! At the end of last season I would have said he can go but now, well now he's Messi.

Anyway, probably just lazy journalism.

Can't see him leaving, surely after recent preformances, he has got into our starting eleven so surely jewell won't let him go... as for the defender.. sign him! And Phil, where did you hear that Scotland was linked with a move?

They could have been watching anyone including collins who is leaving us in December anyway or Murphy who is also on loan.I would'nt be surprised if Scotland signs another contract with us as jewell just dont want him to go.

ummmm, don't you think he was there watching due to the fact the 2 teams play each other saturday? Surely that makes most sense.

Speaking of Ellington, surely he is worth a go at some point? Fifteen minutes to go on Saturday maybe when we're 4-0 up? Sacrifice Ainsley from the bench and put him in there. Edwards is fit as a fiddle and we will have a backup centre back on there so I don't think there's much point another defender being on the bench, rather have another attacker.

I can't see PJ letting Scotland go as Priskin has stated he wants to leave, he has to be one or the other.

Firstly - ha ha! Good find victorywillhappen. It must be him!

Secondly, yep, agreed, this post seems to be lazy journalism. If Scotland didn't want to go to Blackpool, why would he want to go to Boro' especially seeing as he's now playing, scoring and forming a good partnership with Chops! Surely Venus was just watching us ahead of Saturday's game?

I'm pleased to say that I've always been a fan of Scotland - he just needs service and support, both of which he's now starting to get.
This guy is a natural finisher!
He may be relatively expensive but goalscorers are and, as we've found, they don't always deliver. He'll get us 15+ this season - we can't afford to let him go!

His hard work over the summer has paid off. Keep Scotland, lose Priskin, trouble is, nobody's coming in for him !

Like I said to my mate Monday night we have 2 strikers in exactly the same position but have both reacted totally different. Priskin has done nothing but throw a childish strop at not being in favour with PJ, this was evident even at the open training session that we see wen u could see his head was down and looked very dissinterested when the rest of the squad where very much having a laugh & Joke. Scotland on the other hand has been the true professional and shown maturity by knuckleing down and DESERVEDLY WINNING his place in the squad. I just hope that the standing ovation he got from the whole stadium will make him realise how much the fans appreciate his fantastic work rate pre season and he will stay at the club that he's worked hard to win over the crowed. Well Done Jason please stay, ur a role model to young players that think they have the right to play week in week out because of who they are!!! Even later in ur career u still must work hard and get rewarded like JS has, well done fella :0)

Scotland can't leave - its his destiny to stay at PR and become a legend.

Just like all the previous players that we have had, whose surnames were also the names of great footballing countries..................................
